I never said it was impossible. Also, this hack was private as ehh mentioned. I may have given the wrong impression with my replies. If you look on the internet, there's multiple cheats out, but only one that's undetectable (triggerbot).

If you decide to cheat, you have to remember that:

- You can get IP Range banned, which severely limits the amount of times you can bypass a ban;

- Proxy connections can be rejected automatically by servers;

- There are not enough servers to cheat for longer than 30 minutes until you're unable to play on any populated server. The servers that do get players are relatively well moderated.

 

If you're not a cheater, you have to think about the last time you saw a blatant hacker on Renegade. Once, maybe twice a year? At this point, cheaters in Renegade are only a minor issue, people just like to think it's a lot worst to justify their dislike of a person.

 

 

And to stay at least a bit on-topic: I don't think the taunt glitch isn't as powerful as you think, your arm sticks out and a portion of the Ramjet rifle also counts as a hitbox. All you need to do is pre-aim and fire. I'm definitely gonna screw around a bit with this when i visit a co-op server though :P

Yeah, I thought I'd share it out because it can be exploited in some ways but other than that, it isn't exactly a big deal like you said.

 

I also don't know how this topic suddenly went to talking about Nlsrene and Cheating, like I only mentioned "draH" as an example of how I found this out and I don't even know who he is but now I do. As for cheating, there is really no point to it at this day and age, there's not as many people as there used to be and majority of the people who play renegade probably play it for fun and cheating sort of just ruins that fun.

Oh, and Forithow. It's just Tristt trolling. Him and Nlsrene probably have some history.

You talk about 'these days' but Renegade has been around a long time, with a long inglorious history players who have cheated. This has not been forgotten. Scores still remain to be settled.

True.
But that's the reason (for me) why I dont become a mod.
Sure, we need mods. I remember several times where no mod was there
- to kick our "known afk's". So you had a 4v2+Losabill (can be replaced with ldough, Hulk0wnz, sometimes adem etc.)
- or to prevent Under glitches, after a 4h marathon (at least the map end, but you know what I mean)
- to even the teams (10v7 on Under. vador on 7guy team. He said "I'll leave, who wanna TC? (good moderating to here). After 5min no1 changed, so he left without any action. --> Flamer rush --> gg

But as a mod you have the "power" of IRC. You see where nukes get planted etc. And I guess, I would use it in "extreme" games, maybe. After a 5 hour field, maybe provoked by some people. Maybe you lost airstrip but your team defended your base for 3 hours well. There are weird situations sometimes.

I need to avoid it for me. Maybe some other people use it, maybe not. But I don't have a problem with it, I can still have fun.
But if I do, yeah, I maybe would win the game. But it would not be fun anymore for me.

 

PS: Don't take me wrong, I don't say mods aint honest, or unskilled. I guess many ppl can be mod without using it. It's only how I think bout it for me ^^
But I wish I could use !ipdb :D

You cannot see where a beacon is placed on irc. You can see team chat, so I always minimise irc when playing.
