Also, would it be fun to play with just a group of 2-3? (if I were to buy it, I'd probably convince my brother to get it also)

The game is Multiplayer however you can play on single player if you want to.

Yes it's more fun to be in a tribe. One person will be the Tribe Owner, (I'm the Tribe Owner of the Rencorner Tribe & Shai is a Admin of that Tribe along with Qwicksilver as a Moderator but he's classed as an admin of the Tribe too due to how ranks work) then someone else will be an Tribe Admin then the rest Tribesmen/women. You can only have 1 Tribe Owner and as many admins as you want.

Our server has 10 mods on it so to make it easier to get in I'll do a mod list description so anyone can subscribe to them.

I used to play too, tryed to play with RC peeps a few months ago, but now i just have serverlist errors and resolution problems :(

What Ice said got me on the server but I still couldn't play until I cleared and replaced corrupt files in some cache thing. I don't remember how. Someone on ts walked me through it.

It is hard to sum this game up in short. There is so much to build/craft and many styles of playing. Quicksilver built what is called the church. Very nice looking. Shai and Ice also have nice buildings but I'm afraid their property value was lowered due to the new guy putting an industrial looking monstrosity right down the beach from them.

I have only played on RC server so  I don't know about single player but I join when no one is on. There is always something to do. Whether its gathering,building,taming,breeding or just slaughtering everything in sight. As most things are it's much easier and more fun with others. Teamwork is essential  when fighting a boss.

If you have'nt bought the game yet I can't promise you will like it. Maybe watch youtube and see if it's your cup of tea.

 But if you buy and join I have a care package I made.  It is more than enough to hit the ground running. The RC tribe did the same for me.

I am also having issues connecting to the server. I've bummed around the game for a few hours on singleplayer, it seems pretty fun! Hopefully I can connect to the RC server soon so I have someone to play with and teach me the ropes!

Read this topic and try it that way. Use the 64.31.41.114 ip one, other server is kinda shit right now.

I had this game for more than a week before I was able to play. I had all the same issues. This is what I did.

open steam, top left corner, click view, click servers, click favorites folder, bottom right add server, punch in 64.31.41.114:8020

then still in steam, right click ark game, goto properties, local files, click on verify integrity of game files

I had 2 files that couldn't be verified and it fixed them itself

then go back to ark forum under connect to server topic and click on island link

this takes you to a web page that shows who is playing and gives option to join

I saved web page to favorites so I open browser, find the page and click join. hope this helps

I just put a handful of hours into playing on your server, and I have to say I am really enjoying myself. The PvE aspect is very fun. I can imagine how chaotic it must get playing on a PvP server; trying to build up your base and capture dinos while others are trying to raid you. This game definitely has potential! Hopefully the devs will fix whatever they tainted in their last patch that has everyone upset, lol.

 

I had fun playing with myself(lol), but another player by the name of John helped me out a bit. Being able to play with another person made this game much more enjoyable.. Which leads me to my next question; how can we fill up the server with more players? I love supporting Rencorner and want to see our community here grow!

Highly suggest picking up the game if your into build your own base/PvE/PvP games. Get your friends to play also!

I'm just not around very much this week due to deadlines but next week at Easter 14th - 17th April I'll be at LAN so I will be on Ark more and we can all hang out on the server and have a blast.

Glad you got in and thanx @visara1 for your help. Usually the server is more busy at the weekends. Hope to see you in game soon and glad you enjoy it :)
