i played this game for a good 2ish years and then feel out of it because of school and other such activities. i lost my renegade CD key and disk and wondering if you can "get it" or download it anywhere else.

Make sure you install it as adminstrator, otherwise you could get a file corrupt message. Also Download TT patch (Google) and install RenList (a server browser). Just mmake sure when you installed everything to edit the properties in RenList to search for "Game.exe" in your Renegade directory.

You can also usually find the whole game on ebay for $5- $10.  Then you just have to download the updates etc that you can find help with here, to get it working online correctly.

Hi guys. Im in the same situation here, except that I have my first decade cd and  key but I accidentally bought a laptop without a damn CD  drive. I have followed these steps but keep getting a 'file system error' when the install gets to 99%. Any help please?

Isn't it possible to download Origin and download it through there with your first decade key? I don't know personally, I just did basically what rackz is telling you.

Use the original install path of the CD. it will directly install it on C: drive.

It worked running it in xp compatibility mode, cheers guys! Its for the new generation of players... ie my   7 year old son. He loved playing it  last year, before my laptop broke. Rencorner still popular?

I still believe that one day n00bstories will return. The forums are still online afaik.

There's a low chance of NS coming back. Crimson said on the forums that she backed up the server and maybe one day she'll bring it back. But who would play there if it were back on the server list? It wouldn't be worth it. People today prefer the modifications.

^Not all of them. Playerbase on RC is kinda 50/50, there are still players that want to play normal Ren with no modifications like !weapons and !tank or power down/sudden death. The other half or so are new players that don't know how Renegade used to be.

Only reason why it isn't so popular now is because people got used to play with these modifications since the last 'vanilla' server died years ago. It would definitely bring back some older players that left when the old servers died.

it wont even take people away, people will just join the server that has players, which will be rencorner lul (everyone remebers 0 player jelly mara right)

I think we're both trying to say the same thing. Most people aren't loyal to just one server.  But why give people options of servers to join? The least amount the better. Less competition.

We already met together here, and we still have funwars aka vanilla Renegade + Teamspeak (even when its not announced on the forums). Having an extra server/community really wouldn´t make sense. If you want vanilla ren, come to teamspeak and ask for a funwar

I'd say people are more loyal to rencorner, people would join the server to get the numbers up, even though it can be very unproductive of your time. 

That wouldnt happen in any other server that pops up

if n00bstories came back, I reckon it'd be successful in time, a lot of players crave vanilla rene.

I can't see there being much of a impediment to rc tbh, as most players here prefer mods.
