Weapons Drop keyboard shrotcut

On the weekend @OSTKGeeti asked me how I was able to drop a weapon so fast while running around. I've found that with all of the weapon drops the least efficient thing is to stop walking and use the !drop command in all chat. I found a while ago that a keyboard mapping was possible to replace this chat command. I figured it would be useful to share this in case others wanted to try it out as well.

I've mapped my T key to this function and it works great when just walking around to drop a weapon you've acquired and you don't want it anymore.

1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Navigate to your Documents folder as part of your Windows profile
   1. My Documents 
   2. OR
   3. C:\Users\<username>\Documents\
3. Then find the Renegade folder
4. Then find the Client folder
5. Then find a file called keys.cfg
6. Open this using a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++
7. Enter a line that looks like:
   1. WeapDrop=T_Key
8. If you don't want to use the letter T then replace it with your character of choice.
9. Save the file and your new key mapping should work.

Disclaimer: I do have the latest scripts installed but I've had this working since the earlier scripts 4.0 days

By writing 'game' he means Renegade, of course

You can also do it if you have the keys installed, via extended options.

I would suggest not have a "drop all" key installed, because fancy pressing the wrong button and you drop all your weapons..

Also like to point out...

There is radio commands you can add to keys.cfg for those who are curious how people say things like (Focus Fire on <player>, Attack the Airstrip, Repair the Airstrip... etc)

 

copy and paste the following lines into keys.cfg

Radio1=F4_Key
Radio2=F5_Key
Radio3=F6_Key
Radio4=F7_Key
Radio5=F10_Key
Radio6=F11_Key
Radio7=F12_Key
Radio8=Minus_Key
Radio9=Equals_Key

Correct you can use Extended Options as well but you cannot add from there, only configure. I wish it was all possible from in game but that is not always the case when it comes to customization.
