Goonhaven Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 For some reason no one likes Hourglass anymore. It's still my favourite map, and I remember the good long games when hillcamping was illegal (maybe only on St0rm?), and you had to have serious coordination in a team to get past the defences. People just rush to the hill and try to finish as early as possible now (well, not since it was removed...), and I'm not sure why. If you vote, please post an explanation.
Itai795 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 We had the no hillclimbing rule too before it was removed. If I remember correctly the map was skipped frequently, so it was decided to remove the map for the rotation for a while. I'm sure it will come back sooner or later.

There’s your problem. The problem with a lot of the original maps is that there’s a well known “quickest” way to end it. The players that are around these days know exactly what they have to do to get an early lead and they take that option. Gone are the days of waiting to coordinate a full team rush and being creative in gameplay. Unfortunately. 1
WNxH3adSh00t Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Should’ve added a 3rd poll option, with hillcamping. I liked it tbh. 1
Goonhaven Posted February 1, 2018 Author Posted February 1, 2018 The way I see it, if people know how to end it so quickly, or can vote to skip it, why remove it if the vast majority that dislike it have that option, and the minority (I presume) that like it are then pleased as well. Plus with hillcamping illegal people might come to respect it as a proper marathon map again. Added the option for you H3adSh00t :P
Madeen Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Ya know, I do dislike the map, but I find myself missing some of the infantry wars in the tunnels.
WNxH3adSh00t Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 (edited) I miss the 3 hours holdouts with 1 building fighting off rushes 24/7. I'd rather lose a great game than win a 5 minutes match. Edited February 1, 2018 by WNxH3adSh00t 2
Madeen Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 That poll needs a new voter. Three way tie, lol.

LOL few days ago set the map to hourglass was a fun round... will see if can do again if your ingame next and there's enough people. like 10 for each team :)
SAP Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 wasn't aware this was a vote!! would have voted yes
BLooRT Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) mia- Leb97 , majid, whitedude, lots of names i would love to see again. I remember hourglass with only base defenses , ref, and bar and hand left. that was nuts. 16 ravs spewing out of the tunnel at the same time. Edited February 13, 2018 by BLooRT
Madeen Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 All this Hourglass talk makes me want to play it now, too. 1
Delusional Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 And leb's prob too busy undoing kesler's pants to attend ren nowadays. Too bad the only 2 people that would get this joke aren't playing anymore. Also, the good hourglasses were the ones as nod with obelisk down. Squad of ravs front with couple stanks, some arties back, and couple good snipers getting rid of the havocs on the sides of the hill. Sometimes gdi even ended up losing. Good old hourglasses games. Nowadays you wouldn't see any of those.
masscarriers Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Lol pretty sure manny and raven remember it quite well, that kesler reference
Delusional Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 True. I see you do too. Also go away, you need more holidays.
Madeen Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I recognize the nick majid - he is a nub in my mind.

I've redone it - tell me if it doesn't work. Votes so far: 2 (yes, with HC illegal), 2 (yes, with HC legal), 2 no. 1
Madeen Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Bring it back! Without hill camping, though, please. 1
