I just bought a new pc but their isn't a dvd player in it so whats the safest place to download renegade. I have the key.

bought the origin version but tiberium technologie patch doesn't work im stuck with a small screen and no servers. PC master race my ass u need a fucking PhD to play games.

Launch game directly from your origin folder, should be something like

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Renegade\game.exe

 

Then your better off using something like renlist to connect to servers, unless you have a xwis login already setup

I think that with the ren CD, you can use another PC to copy+paste all the files and folder from the CD to a disk-on-key (or however you want to transfer files) and then to your new PC. Click the setup/install file and I think it should work.

^ This also does work, its just the installer that is the problem, make sure when you install things you run things as an administrator too, the whole issue is, your trying to install a old game, on a new PC, things move on, other things get left broken

Check the renegade folder, there should be a wwconfig.exe, run it and you can change resolutions.

also when I use reenlist I cant connect to any server they don't let me click on connect and when using the old renegade there isnt any server.

Find the latest version of Renlist, sometimes old versions won't allow you to click on Connect for some reason.

make sure to get into settings, so it can find ur game.exe

also make sure to use the gsa tab and put in a name

If he's using Origin and TT isn't installing properly, then that means he's not getting the Renegade 1.037 update that normally comes in TT. That sounds like what he's getting with the Renlist issue.

Install this and see if you can get to the server lists(or regular lists) on Renlist after: http://box.rencorner.co/ren-game/ren-game2/Renegade_1037_English.exe

I would go on irc or refresh the renlist periodically until a regular map comes on: Field/Under/Complex/Walls/Walls_Flying/City/City_Flying/Islands/Hourglass/Glacier_Flying/Mesa/etc. Or even ask a mod to setnextmap to it...that way you'll get in since you don't have TT sorted yet.

When I click on connect and nothing happens, I click connect again, then the game loads up.

It seems I have to do this alot to connect to the server(s) I click connect on.

His PC hates him, we got it half-assed working...for now. There's more to do, but he has to wait for Xwis guys to approve his email so I can finish with the serial aspect.

throws a few suggestions

 

you may need VC++ runtime installed to run the TT updater. (think it is VC++2013)

could be getting stuck when mixcheck.exe connects to download fixed maps, would need to check firewall or temporarily disable antivirus if you have one.

 

I had a problem a few years back: after running TT update it would leave an update file inside Renegade's main directory, whenever I tried to launch the game it would try to initiate the update again and do nothing, to fix the problem I had to delete the file BUT I cannot remember the exact filename (__update___.exe or something).

 

could use direct connect method \\ game.exe +connect 85.214.212.79:4852 +netplayername "SPARTAN"

 

uninstall then reinstall / if it's from the download page then you only need the game.iso file
