What a pile of garbage VAC is...

So I've been playing CSGO for 3 years now, and the rate at which I get cheaters in-game is absurd. And I'm not talking suspicious behavior here, I'm talking obvious in-your-face cheating, like people spinning around getting headshots lol.

I've even had one of my friends try some cheats out, just for fun, and he still isn't banned after a year of using it... without even updating the cheat! I also tried it myself to see what triggers VAC. Well, if you obviously cheat, like shoot through walls and shit, VAC will not catch you, and 90% overwatch won't too. But if you have any dll running that VAC knows off, that would do. Which is why one of our accounts got banned, and my friend's didn't. (note this was an experiment, we payed money for accounts to try this)

 

Now the irony is that shit so obvious like the above don't get a VAC, yet something as small as getting an item from a community server on some free game does ... lol

This morning, my 13 years old brother calls me into the room, saying he got VAC banned. Now I would know if he'd downloaded any shady stuff, cause I monitor any download that happens on this PC. But surprisingly, after contacting steam, it seems the VAC was issued because he had "cheated" one of the achievements. Basically their are servers that hand you out achievement/items. Little did my brother know, that deserves a VAC from every single game he has on steam ... lol

So valve basically allows spinbots in their FPS games, but then expects every 13 years old to read their 100000 lines of rules, to find out that joining some community server (which is mostly what TF2 is now) will get him a VAC on every single game he owns? What a pile of bs that is haha

They could've just un-done the achievement, and any progress he unlocked after that. Not that hard to code Valve! Instead they have to send a 13 years old a message along the lines of "We don't negotiate with cheaters!". Wtf is he, a terrorist? (spare me the arab terrorist jokes this time please :p) Do they realize they are dealing with little kid here? That can't properly deal with such situations? (I am aware the game's rating is 16, but still a 16 years old would have probably fallen for VAC in such a situation)

Fortunately, I don't buy him games on that account, fearing such a day will come. All he lost is some items and such.

Why am I writing this on Rencorner? well we all know steam forums are cancer basically, and I thought I'd let some steam off here :p I'm just unhappy with how valve deals with actual cheaters, and decide to pick on such minor infringements. It's like perm banning a ren player for E shooting on RC

What game was it and did you lie on his age when making his steam account and/or buying the games? In case you cannot figure out where I am going with this, you might be able to force them to refund you for all the games if he was under 16 for them.

No I've never bought any games on that account.

Also I'm not asking for anything in my post. Just ranting that valve will go to the end when it comes to minor things like a stupid achievement unlock, yet won't ban actual cheaters.

Someone gets accused of cheating on one game and gets banned for all, that's not very nice... Also if steam isn't monitoring the gameplay itself, what proof do they have anyway? Lastly, there's no need to be asshats to kids. If the under 18 person in question didn't know about what could cause a ban, it SHOULD be negotiable. "we don't negotiate with cheaters" is toxic enough a line so casually thrown in this case, that if made public could trash their reputation of "good customer service."
