Joe, I know with your history in Renegade that you will have played Hourglass both ways and I do take your point. I suppose it's a bit unfair because i'm not really a marathon player, much prefering a 30 min AOW style (hence my involvement with commwars). But to explain my reasoning, If hill camping is allowed one team takes the hill and just whores points from the enemy buildings. Not really much skill involved in that. If hill camping is not allowed it pretty much requires one team to rush the Ob or AGT in order to win. Organising a rush requires communication and teamwork and that's what I like most about Renegade. It just becomes 100% better with teamwork. That's just my opinion, so if Hourglass is added maybe a poll like, 'Hill Camping On or Off' and let folks decide what they want would be best. Gumby P.S. Remember, Teamwork Bitches. Joetorp Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Hey Doc, Hill camping presents a problem for the opposing team (I played on Jelly AOW for 6 years and it was allowed), it means you have to get a couple of stanks or mammys (they shoot rockets that home) to deal with the artys or mrls. This means you have to have responsible people willing to defend the top and sacrifice their ability to gain points (and mvp) to disrupt the opponents plan of point whoring and killing your buildings. By taking hill camping off the table, you take away the need for part of your team to defend the hill and add them as part of the base defense or attack force. When a game has < 8 players/team, and hill camping allowed, you need 1 player at least to defend the hill, ~2 players to defend and mine the buildings, and the rest in tanks to attack, defend, or whore. Eliminating hill camping frees up 1, possibly 2 players from base defense to man tanks. I think an attacking team would want to have players on the opposing team waste their time healing a building rather than man tanks to try and overcome the attackers. My 2 cents worth... Joe

shaitan Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Both teams can hill camp easily. So you can't say either has any advantage over the other. Gdi may not be able to hit the PP/Air, it can sure fuck up the Obi/Hon. The whole fun of that map is the hill camping: Fighting for dominance.

JQuo Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Make sure you are ready to kick people from the server when you no longer allow hillcamping. A moderator will do it a lot. The most annoying rule that I ever experienced with Renegade was the no hillcamping rule at St0rm. It gives a lot of confusion, since other servers do allow it. I don't have any problems with hillcamping. Teamwork is the thing you need with this map. Yes, Nod has an advantage on the hill. But if GDI plays it smart, they can keep and defend the hill easily. If that doesn't work, well, then you have 2 sideways that are completely empty. Hourglass game: 10 vs 10. NOD: 6 arties on the hill. 2/3 infantry guys walking around. (Sniper/sbh) And a dude that is either afk or walking around with a tech. GDI: 5 guys reparing the base. 5 guys rushing through the sideways. When Nod is busy whoring on the hill, you have most of the time the sideways empty. The GDI team should make use of that. Anyhow, whatever the situation is, the only way to win Hourglass is with teamwork. And if your teamwork is good, it's easy to take, hold and defend the hill. Regards

Under.. u can Beacon Nods PP Or Hop Gdi PP Field, u can obby walk and u can beacon Ref... However... Hourglass? Know anything that Doesnt require a rush or a spy? Cuz i dont, It will Take hours, then people get fed up and leave.

Sounds to me like you should be playing AOW where there is a time limit. What is wrong with a map where you need to rush to win?
dronez4 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I know obby walk would get u kicked But people do it, and obviously if u get caught Concenquences happen, but either way There is a way to Beat them maps so easily without rushing, Hourglass will take hours, Try play it for 1 day, U'll get bored as hell.
