Hi guys,

 

This is extremely sad for me. Spoony was the first "official" representative of online gaming for me. My understanding was that he ran the clanwars.cc section of renegade for a few years after the clan ranking system was abandoned by WOL? 

 

Either way, he was a foundation for the Renegade community. Regardless of how you felt about him - he was passionate about the game and about preserving it's integrity. I doubt anyone could argue that. I am very sad to learn of his passing and wish all the best to his friends and family.

I spent hours of my life on forums arguing with the guy about the pointmod / pointsfix, because I didn't think it would necessarily improve the Jelly servers or make them more fun for the people playing on them, even if it was the intended game setting

Spoony was a high-maintenance player and would radio spam "I need repairs!" more than anyone I ever saw, but I'll be damned if he didn't make the most of it - he was an asset to any team he ended up on, and managed to clean house in public servers in a way many clanwars dudes never did (HTMN would argue otherwise, but I was there and saw it all)

I always wondered what happened to the guy, as I didn't hear from him for a great while, but I'm sad it came down to this

This is a big loss, and the guy will be remembered and missed - RIP my dude

Hi liquid, it's been a long time.  Allow me to correct you, Zend placing c4 on the underside of the MCT was ok until spoony got killed by it and he got pissed, went to the forum and named it a glitch,  while it was difficult to remove, it could be, and has been.  You also made false accusations about him sinking c4 on an apc, which when I called you on it and we went on another server, you couldn't prove.  You also didn't like him driving an apc into arties, and when his apc was destroyed and he came out with c4 in his hand!and placed it on the nearest vehicle!  He was a good player and because of spoony his reputation was ruined.  I have played with Zend since 1998 and he has never cheated, not 1 time!

I specifically remember a CW with Spoony and Orca on Mesa where Spoony was yelling and screaming so loud about something we were doing wrong.  I will remember his renessays about the pointsfix and other topics.  Spoony was the master of outlasting anyone in a thread about pretty much anything.  Was far from the friendliest person on Renegade, but I respected him for teaching me how to play CWs and his many other contributions to the game.   He was a great competitor and always was glad to have him on my team.

Like to make it clear this is a forum post to celebrate Spoony's life and his contribution to Renegade. I know a lot of people had their differences with him, but that doesn't diminish what he did for this game or the people that were close with him. So please have some respect for them recently passed man. In my personal experience he was a great guy and taught me a lot and was a fierce competitor. Again: May he RIP.

For the record, my dude, zend intentionally tried to glitch his timed c4 into both MCTs and vehicles.  He even detailed to dashartz how he did it, which confirmed my take on it after having watch him do it many times over.  He would equip timed c4 before hopping into his vehicle, and then ram his APC against an enemy vehicle while holding down the left mouse button.  Upon being destroyed, his character would instantly let the timed c4 go, and numerous times I watched him blow up enemy vehicles because the c4 could not be found.  It was not visible, as it had glitched and sunk into the vehicle model.  He knew this, and though it did not work in every attempt, he would spend entire games and hours of his life trying to do it because he's not a very good player and couldn't seem to accomplish anything else without utilizing c4 glitches.  Your argument was always, "Well, it's called All Out War, so I see no reason why glitching shouldn't be allowed...", to which you would get whipped like a mule each and every time you tried.  Your argument also would allow cheating, since in an actual war you wouldn't expect the enemy to play by the rules.  You had a habit of disregarding anything that disproved your arguments, in the way people say "Fake News" now.  Spoony struck down every false claim you ever made against him, and since he's not here to do so now I'll have to do it on his behalf.  You were not a good moderator, in the sense that you'd make exceptions for your friend in the way a crooked cop might cover for his buddy.  That's just my take on it, after having watch you do it for years on end, but I'm happy you found a home here.  Please stop trying to smear Spoony, as he had no vendetta against you or zendofu2 and was just reacting to the current situations, which could be verified by both myself and other people at the time.

RIP Spoony. He obviously did a lot before my time, but i remember him playing PUB in n00bstories, probably tracking his Win/Loss record in his notebook. He reopened the clanwars again in like 2011/2012 probably with only like 5 teams of 2. Me and a n00bstories mod Angryc4killer just made a team to try. I Remember spoony and hitman just being a dominant force as always inspired me to actually learn the competitive side of the game as well as to try to and keep the league going with as a few people as possible. That led to my lobby war/funwar era for the next 2 years creating the "crush crew" as manuel says. Had a lot of fun memories because of it bringing back some old players every now and then and just hanging with new friends growing closer because of it. 

So i guess i owe it all to Spoony for the annoying shit friends i have now in gaming that i have wasted years of my life with.

Thank you ren and thank you spoony! The game can never die because of the bond we all share

When we restarted lobby wars, he didnt play because of a issue with his hand or some shit, he posted a bit last year to have an argument with joe tho LOL

I knew spoony way back, he taught me a lot of the game before he went cw.cc lol, when he went by thexorb

RIP Spoony.  He had a passion for this game which I shared, understood and respected, and was a major part of clanwars.cc.  He helped keep the game alive for many years passed its expiry date.  We competed thousands of times in clanwars & community wars.  Sad to hear the news.  RIP

think we should create a whatsapp group for those interested in competitive ren 

I say March 27th/28th we do 3v3 or 4v4 max tournament. Easily can put together 4 teams to at least have a small bracket to make it fun. Saw some “decent” names come back to play who used to play competitive
