Hi,

Can we remove oasis_flying, it's the worst map on the rotation right now. I don't have the voting stats but I'm sure it's voted to be skipped quite often.

And if we are on the subject, how about removing Dawn_RaidDB too? Don't think it's very popular.

We can have creekdale_flying back, it's a good map.

The map rotation includes:

May I suggest something like that (same maps, different order):

Order is row by row (Field_RxD -> Islands -> ...), not column by column

My reasoning:

1. Iceberg and Coast are distanced from the other

2. Equal space between Field and Under (and their RxD versions)

3. Trying to have a base defense map followed by a map without base defense / long maps followed by short maps

4. Spacing RxD maps a bit

Just remove rxd field and under rxd. Nothing diff from originals and tons of useless lag bc of useless emitters and bad textures. If you really want a more snowy version of under then try Winter_Under which is exactly the same without the added 6 hrs of lag.

Nice work itai, but you missed a big one. You had 4 base def in a row.

Rotation used to be 2 non-base def/1 base def, but we willy nilly plopped them where ever the last few years.

*edit* Next reboot/crash snow_rxd will be after Complex(missed that)

I don't consider land-day and uphill as base defense maps. Sure they have turrets and GTs, but I don't think they count. Walls is not less of a defensive map than these two. But I see your point, could have land-day with volcano for example.

Shai, in your rotation we have: Field RxD, 3 maps, Under_RxD, 10 maps, Field, 1 map, Under and 9 maps.

Is it intentional to have Field and Under close together then a gap of 9-10 maps?

 

I also noticed we removed Gobi. I think we need Gobi or Sand for the snipers to be happy a bit.

+1 at adding sand or gobi or even both. maybe have whole rotation + one time gobi and then whole rotation +  one time sand so those get mixed up aswell. since gobi got a decent timer i grew to like it. think gobi with 30-45 minutes time limit and sand with 20-30 minutes are optimal.

 

personally i´d like to have a lot of space between base defense maps but that´s just me and as i play pretty regularly i´m getting tired of 3 hours of under and field all the time, but players that don´t play as much might have a different opinion on this so you have to balance. and i agree with itai that land day and uphill dont really count as base defense map, they play much more like a non base defense maps.

 

in general i wouldn´t put maps into the categories of simply base defense map or non base defense maps, glacier flying or city flying also have base defenses but they play vastly different from under, field or what i expect iceberg to be. i think average duration is more important than having base defenses or not. also agree with itai about walls playing more like a base defense map. on field and under you´re just stuck if your team doesn´t have enough teamplay to rush, on other maps like glacier_flying etc you can do much more solo.

 

iceberg from what i´ve seen seems like a pretty tough to break map, i expect it to take pretty long once people figured out how to play it. i think it has a more interesting and more imporantly easier accessable field for infantry which is a good thing on a long map. i mean who doesn´t love to be locked down in your own base on under for 2 hours... think that´s much less of an issue at iceberg. it´s pretty well thought out from what i´ve seen so far @Forithow

Sand was in the rotation. Also, I kept thinking snow was base def.

Keeping the snipers happy? You mean they're not happy enough on Field & Under with all the invising and entrapment?

Gobi & Sand are terrible DM maps, but with time limits...they tolerable at best.

Kudos on changing things up though and breaking apart the 4 hour camp fests!

Add tanks back to gobi, bring back sand. Sand is only 20 min which is tolerable for a snipe fest. A 45 minute snipe fest is awful, but better when you can buy a tank 15-20 min into the match.

Yes. Gobi is a snipe fest without !tank command. I also agree to bring it back (as I said at that topic, having tanks at the second half of the map creates a different dynamic), but if not, at least reduce the time to 20 minutes like Sand.

 

BTW, Shai, thanks again for making the changes and figuring out what to take from all our replies. I don't remember we had the community input on the rotation to the extend we are having right now (compared to previous rotation changes). I hope this rotation would prove to be one of the best we had.

Remove Niagra and put back SiegeDB, SiegeDB is much funner then lame Niagra plz
