I think the days of using field or under as a means to attract more players have passed. For a while the games have become unreasonably stagnant due to no teamplay making the matches pretty pointless for a lot of people. Maybe something we could try, at least on a trial basis?

 

Suggestion:

Remove 1 version of field and under.

Add timer to whatever version sticks.

mud you plays a lot so your gut feeling is worth. However I probably see it in the data for Under, but not for Field.

I still support some change to be made here. Not sure what..

I took this year field and under matches, including RxD. I removed games that ended with less than 4 players (0, 1, 2 and 3). I'm showing the following graphs which are separated between under and field, binned by a month: 1. Players at the end of the match; 2. Players change which is the difference between the previous match (meaning difference = (players at the end of the field/under match) minus (players at the end of the previous map) ); 3. The match duration in minutes (limited to 3 hours but there are a few outliers above that).

Remember that the player change is affected by the number of players - this is noticeable with Under when during November (and maybe October too) we had less players so the difference in players is also smaller, hard to say if it's related to the players decrement or more people leaves Under.

Showing scatter graph where each point is a match, and box plots which is a nice way to look at quartiles of the data.

Unfortunately there isn't data for June July and most of August (23/8). November has less matches (we are still in it duh)

so we got each map in the rotation twice atm right? we could start by making one each timed mandatory if that´s possible. i personally ragequit right now if it´s field or under cause as mud says, most people aren´t even trying to teamplay anymore(i´m guilty aswell mostly) which makes it the most boring never ending experience ever. but i could be convinced to give it a try when i know it´s ending in 45 minutes. and while personally i´d love to completely get rid of mara under and field i don´t think that´s a good policy for the server overall, because a section of the playerbase loves it.

 

but yeah i definitely noticed that under and field aren´t as well liked as they used to be and are often actually kllling playercount instead of filling it so some sort of change should be probably made.

There’s not a lot of doubt that it still brings in players and keeps them in server. I think just about any Mara map will do that assuming no bldg gets killed. The quality of that gameplay though is shot, and I’m getting tired of seeing 20 plus ppl in MOF regularly and none in actual renegade.

Well, fuck. I'm not sure what happened there. Must have been on the summer pc...going to see if I can find any missing logs of it.
