A better option would be to upload the new maps I sent him but not put them in rotation,  that way they can be set as next map and people can see if they like them first.

 

I sent them to shai a couple weeks ago haven’t heard anything back.

I made an update of the rotation based on the maps we currently have. The idea is to keep a good mix. Here are some common factors:

- 1 BD map alternates with 2 rush maps (as they go faster)

- original and fan maps alternate as much as possible

- 17 original maps or heavily inspired by original maps, 31 maps in total. So the majority stays original maps

- I kept all maps that are now in the rotation except for SiegeDB. I feel Hourglass kind of replaced that map as a "camp map". If you really want to add SiegeDB, I would remove Hourglass

- Most "camp maps" are 45 mins in this rotation

- Walls could be replaced with Walls_G_B6 if you want to keep the Walls GDI vs GDI though I wouldn't

Is there a flying version of gdi vs gdi walls? Main issue is hotwires easily match a med tank's damage and there's not a dynamic way to deal with them like art splash or orcas, so it easily stalls into harv-killing and mrls whoring.

@ILL Players do generally like a switch up of the rotation - At least as far as the public server is concerned, I am in the same boat as you tbh, if I had my way we'd just be playing stock maps alllday long haha.

I think we need to pin down what our day to day rotation is, then have a "map of the month", which if received well by the community and balances well, will enter the day to day rotation.

I don't think there is a real threat of us becoming MPF 2.0, we are DEFINITELY not ever going to be doing anything fruity such as 10 second beacons, building revives, obby/gravity/silly guns/silly vehicles, which are inherently unbalanced.

I do think any map we do add, we need to ensure aren't absolutely massive(which is think is why people don't really like city flying) and have loads of dead space, I am open to the idea of new maps, but if the map is far too large, or have multiple AGTs/Obelisks to compensate or is downright unbalanced, it is an absolute no go for me.

I personally don’t like flying vehicles, just the way it changes gameplay.

Did you make the flying field b10 map? Had a load of fun playing it last night with 40 players. Had some glitches though with strip, vehicles weren’t moving after dropping and people were losing a lot of them. At the end of the match they started to spawn on top of each other. Forithrow found some other things as well. Otherwise great map

yeah fori was able to go up on that wall above airstrip and snipe into gdi base from there. but apart from a few fixes that need to be made, it definitely has potential. it also looks amazing, loved the tunnel area. i´d love if one of those days a talanted map maker could just improve the textures, lighting etc on glacier flying. think it would look pretty amazing.

@vultima i think people dislike city flying cause it´s always the same, nod stank rushes and usually wins eventually unless gdi is very very good and doesn´t let them. but i also think it´s liked well enough that it can stay in the rotation, people aren´t hating it, i´ve never actually seen it get voted down.

 

when it comes to the rotation in general i think we added a bit much new maps lately and idk how to go about it, as we need and want to test them of course. maybe we reserve some slots where we do test new maps, like one week we test map a, next week map b and so on until we decide if we want to keep it or not. or we leave it as is for a bit longer and then make a new rotation based on the impressions we gathered. i mean some people are moaning about the unknown maps, but it´s not too many people and it´s not killing the server either so far. need admins to decide how they want to handle it.

 

so far i´m not a fan of the gdi vs gdi walls, some issues have been pointed out by jonrambo, but i also find the colour scheme confusing. one time i ran back into my own base when i actually wanted to run into enemy base cause the colours are hard to tell apart sometimes.

what i would be very much interested in playing would be nod vs nod on an open rush map. like nod vs nod volcano, maybe even volcano flying sounds kinda amazing to me idk.

Yeah, you're able to get out of the map on all the Field variants (so Field3_A and Field_Flying), there is a collision on flying but it needs to be slightly further inwards and preferably a block of invisible collision instead of a wall

I do like the idea of Field_Flying, I was able to get to GDI Ref with transport helicopter while GDI was front of Nod base.

For Glacier_Flying, there is GlacierTS, but it isn't flying sadly, if we can make a flying variant of that then that'd be what you would be looking for

EDIT: I did have an idea to remake stock maps to make them more HD with better textures and lighting, kind of like the RxD versions without the blue weapons and bugs. And include VIS on the maps (aka less lag and more FPS for those with bad computers) but I don't know if anyone wants that as the stock maps are fine as is and it'd add more unnecessary download times and bloat to the server

Let me know where the spot you can get out of the map is.

 

I can fix all these, didn’t realize there was a problem with the air on that map.

i´d ask shai about it before i´d do all that work. he´s always reluctant to upload those as people need to download them then and it´s a problem in some areas of this world

Since Blacky is gone and wasnt active much for fixing code/map issues and a lot times he doesnt communicate I think we can try it. Shaitan can bring more people to RC Dev Staff (like Fori, me and Vultima I think). Its all about communication and testing. But mainly only one person (shaitan) should care about server files and ttfs repository. Not again that chaos from Blacky like currently that broken C4 split mine limit.

The split mine limit is not broken. In original renegade remotes and proxies were part of the same limit. 

That being said, having more than one coder would be a good thing. Not judging in who it should be.

can´t have someone that isn´t 100% trusted though. exeric refusing to record his gameplay when asked due to cheating allegations to just to avoid sniping alltogether for a couple of months now doesn´t really create confidence in me. quite to the contrary.

i know he´s helpful in a lot of other cases and i don´t want to diminish that but that´s just the reality.

also think the c4/proxy thing should go back to remotes not counting towards the mine limit as soon as we can, that´s how it was for ages and it was better than it is currently.

i also support getting as many devs as we can, there are quite a few things that could be done that improve the server a lot, but once again issue is trust. mainly shaitan will need to trust whoever gets access to the main code.

Been sniping more lately since I've been on the last few days. Still just roams around not missing any shots fired. Sniping requires some skill, and there is usually some kind of dance off between you and the other player. That never takes place with him, it's usually you just see him and it's either a 1 tap or 2 consecutive shots. When I see him switch to snipe mode I just give up on sniping which kind of sucks.

yeah i also noticed he was getting back to sniping lately. but he rarely did it for weeks.

Its broken since it was enabled at RC. Ask shaitan how it worked months ago until Blacky updated server files without any notice. I think latest build when it worked was v4.6

as an individual, I like him, as a player, *sometimes* I think he isn't legit but i would love to be wrong and be proven wrong, if he ever recorded and shared some of his gameplay.

I'm willing I'll be happy to help with coding stuff. I'm not familiar at all with Ren in this matter, but coding is about 70% of my job so with someone helping me at the beginning I believe I'll be fine.

Yeah I was testing stuff around and no luck with the SplitMineLimit=yes, It just wont work. I did however upped the minelimit/remote to 60 instead of 50. We could up it more.
