IP JOIN did not work.

Failure to download required packages.

Everytime I try to join it looks like I am downloading something- then it stops and boots me.

I played in your server the 1st night I returned (last week) so I know I CAN join.  Question is, what changed server side?

I would love to play Renegade with you guys

Forgive my manners, I posted without addressing your issue at all.

I had the same thing in MPF, and changing my DNS servers to the google ones: 8.8.4.4. and 8.8.8.8 worked.

To do this: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using (I'm far from certain this will work for everyone though - never did master networks).

Thanks Goonhaven.  I did as you suggested and it did not work

Still get the Error

Are we sure this isn't server side?

Everytime I try to join, the screen appears as though it is trynig to download something before it kicks me.

Why is it trying to download anything?  I have the maps.

Can you guys bypass that?

I see some cats in server I would like to play against,

Bleh

@Gizbotvas, does it seems like it starts to download anything and fails at the middle, or doesn't start at all?

Do you have any firewall or antivirus installed? If so, try to disable or remove them (no need for them with built-in windows AV and firewall anymore anyhow..)

Can you try playing with another PC (not permanently, just want to see if we can eliminate potential causes for the problem)?

Try to play using your mobile's hotspot (AKA tethering) instead of using your home internet.

Also try to run as administrator privileges too

@GizbotvasLaunch game2.exe with admin privileges and click on Multiplayer Online, join on westwood online and see if you can join the server that way

Still get the error

ITAI795- I do see a download start before I am kicked,  Firewalls disabled, switched to wireless and cat5 back and forth.

Still get the error

UKSRENE- I do run it as an admin

FORITHOW- ran gam2.exe as admin

Guys, I played in your server last week.  The change is on YOUR end.  I feel like I am banned.

This is a known issue seen previously fixed server side.

Are you sure Im not banned?

if you´re banned you´re getting a message saying you you´re banned usually and not the weird shit you´re getting

@shaitan, maybe restart the download server? long shot

@Gizbotvas, yesterday I was able to download a new map from our server (using the in-game resource manager as always).. it's working for me.. I can only speculate it's your ISP or something else on your PC or router that blocks communication to the download server after certain amount of time.. Do you happen to have access to the logs on your router?

Just to make sure we are clear - you used your mobile phone to create a wifi hotspot, and used that netwrok with your PC?

I played in your server one day and the next day could not.  I can play in other servers. The change is clearly serverside.

I have tried all the client's side solutions posted and nothing works.

I have seen this problem solved in the forums historically on the server side.

You could ip bypass me, or script me in, you could just allow me in if you wanted to

People keep telling me I'm not banned, but this feels specific to me, so  "you say tomato I say tomato"

The only change was adding new maps recently. You have the full list of maps, I sent you those in my other posts, nothing changed after that. Use the Mediafire link, nothing was added after those links.

You are not banned, this is not a serverside issue. This is your internet not liking the server pc for whatever reason.

Any server admin/moderator ban of Renegade wouldn't stop you from downloading from the webserver. Any ban of you from the pc itself would stop you, but as I've clearly seen in the Apache webserver logs you can access files.

Here are three of those same files, that your internet seems to freak out about the most, unzip them directly into your \AppData\Roaming\Renegade\Client\ttfs\files\ttfs\files\

Try another ISP like internet cafe or a coffee shop like costa or even at someone else house ? see if this work. Hopefully it’s a laptop your using lol

Did you try to reinstall the game without the tt patch but with 1.037 patch? The downloader did not exist in vanilla renegade. Unless the server actively avoids players without the latest tt scripts, you should be able to join on standard maps. It would be a decent way to make sure you aren't banned as well. Reinstalling Ren takes like 5 to 10 mins on modern machines.

I don't think our server allows non script players? Definitely worth a shot.

I understand your frustration, I've been there. But, come on, why would anyone ban you? Why would we lie about it? I don't think I have ever seen a tech related thread gets so many replies from so many people here before.
Renegade is an old game and even at launch its network code didn't excel.. The in-game download manager was introduced with an unofficial patch (scripts). The fact a similar issue I had was solved on server side doesn't mean its root cause is the same as your problem (my problem was common to more players - server was down. You are the only one who is experiencing a problem at the moment). We are trying to find out the root cause of your problem.

As I mentioned, you should try with a mobile hotspot if you haven't. It's a similar suggestion as UksRene suggested.

When I had the same problem, I also had the same maps on my side but the download manager still tried to d/l them.

You could try another computer ie a laptop or old PC or parents laptop or something on your home network that you’re using to try and join and see what happens?

disconnecting the cat5 and using a mobile cell hotspot did not work.

I could play in OTHER servers but not here

SHAITAN- thank you for loading those mediafiles.  I extracted them as you suggested but still got the error.

Changing the ISP didnt help

Adding mediafiles didnt help

All the time, I can play in other servers.

Could you ask to borrow a friend laptop ? and install renegade on it just to see if you can join rencorner via your orginal ISP so we can rule that option out and if you can using a friend laptop then then issue would be on serverside. Maybe ask around for someone in ur family or friends to bring around a laptop to your house or even a PC tower and plug it into your monitor etc ?

Then, what would you do?

Do you think this is a server side issue?

When you try to join, and it errs while downloading, run this WinMtr program. https://www.mediafire.com/file/gdb7c31cwl251uh/WinMTR.zip/file

I just updated it to include this new pc. "OVHMara.bat = 144.217.255.44 Newer OVH Renegade PC"

The readme and tutorials in there still apply. Let it run for a minute or two, then save/copy the logs to pastebin.com. If you get 5 or so I'll show them to the host, and see what they think.
