Renegade gameplay videos

I am going to attempt to do some advertising to get some new/old players back in the game using my knowledge of youtube algorithim and channel building. This first video is just cause it was fun, no real cinematic experience but im just getting the channel made. I will make much better quality ones and send them out in cyberspace. I think most people either probably cant believe the game is still alive, or forgot about it, or are sick of a lot of the modern garbage over the last 20 years. Hopefully I can be successful in this mission. They have had success doing this stuff for renegade x, but the biggest issue is still the whole having to buy the game thing methinks. In case anyone wants to check it out here. EDIT: adjust the quality to 1080p or 720p. YouTube is not auto correcting it yet. It may still be processing at release.

Thanks for that inspect. I realized my comments were disabled also so was able to fix that and post the link. Although it takes days to be verified to post links in the description.

You can use my footage to make a compilation if you want to. https://rencorner.co/topic/15787-renegade-video-footage/

Thanks gozy i will take advantage of that offer. Will save me a lot of effort actually getting gameplay to record. Plus I'm no tanker, you have a lot of good vehicle footage that simply i would just never be able to get. Takes a lot of time to make some decent looking videos in divinchi, I'm hoping to have enough stuff to make 2-3 videos this week of various compilations mended together. So this helps.

Also gozy. Would be a really good advertisement kind of video if at some point this week or whenever we can both be in the same match opposite sites recording. Hopefully get a map that doesn't last a real long time and has some decent player amount and gameplay. What i would like to do is take your footage straight from your disk drive, you can just upload it to me in a file, and i could then make a splitscreen of the match from each sides perspective. I did that before with telly back in the jelly days and it turned out to be really cool. Could add in some meme kinda stuff to appeal to the manboys out there.

I just put a placeholder name for my channel using my in game name and everything and just uploaded this first video just to get all the settings in place and everything. But I've done semi professional YouTube video editing before so i know how to get a channel really moving. Gonna eventually change it to promote rencorner and make tutorials how to get the game actually rolling. Once i get enough actually footage and all that stuff in place, higher quality stuff. Then I'll really launch it and do some fishing with the algorithm. I think we could potentially see some new blood. There's a ton of disgruntled gamers out there and people still running garbage computers that are overkill still for renegade.

i think i saw these videos, they were really cool. at least i saw some videos of the same type with the splitscreen and all. may i suggest that our funwars might be a good opportunity to record this type of content, too? cause it really highlights the teamplay aspect of the game, which is what makes ren so great in my eyes. could also give you mod-status so you can use the !fly command and record tankbattles from a drone perspective

Yes absolutely! Variety of gameplay is what i really need to attract people. Tanking. Sniping. Teamplay being shown. Those are the things that tend to attract people who the algorithm sends to actually view the videos. A lot of people like the concept of clans.

Also.

When recording the funwars I'll record the TeamSpeak banter which is also a good draw. Just have to make sure we're clean when doing it or YouTube will have fits about the language. I can pull up all kinds of monetized channels that don't have one complete sentence clean in an hour long podcast, but if a new channel has fuck in it once or twice it won't get sent anywhere. Go figure. Lol.

Sure. We would need to be on teamspeak to coordinate this

Yes which means I'll have to find a day to put the kids away lol.

If we work together on getting all this rolling, i know there's probably plenty of naysayers out there who would be viewing this topic. But. I can show you a crt monitor right now on ebay going for a grand that i threw in the garbage 20 years ago. . There's a huge retro gaming audience out there that's always looking to go back in time. If we can get some eyeballs on this project and some luck, we could be filling up the server daily. The little bit of luck comes in making it be good enough that someone with a much larger audience picks it up and gets into the game. Lots of gaming channels out there with tens of thousands of views that all they do is show off retro games. That's where i want this to go.

OK! Just be aware that 1 min of recording is 165 MB of footage (now that I put things down to medium quality, it was more than double on high).

What are you using to record? Software? I keep a 2 tb Seagate security drive for long term storage (high cashe spinner). And i have 3 2 tb m.2 for actively editing files so whatever you throw my way I'm fine with. It will help though if we can sync our recording settings so there isn't as much variation during montages. With divinchi studio, i can upscale or downscale to make them basically identical, but it does help if we're close to similar settings.

I setup OBS to record at 60 frames, 1440p. From there i can take and do pretty much whatever i want with it. The actual file sizes are smaller in comparison using those recording settings. As something like Fraps, a 20 second clip can be Damm near a gig when you run everything max. The problem with Fraps is it really effects my gameplay which is why i went obs. Fraps gets all that quality by lowering your actual frames as obs uses a different encoder separately. So i can actually still skillfully play the game.

Would be helpful to know what your using to do your recording.

geforce experience

My geforce experience doesn't allow me to record. When I press record, two small icons appear on low-right of screen for 3 seconds then nothing...

I guess I really need to change computer soon lol

You need a decent rig I guess. But mine is also several years old.

That sounds like a driver issue. Try updating your experience. And also sometimes it's very simple. . Like. . Make sure you know what folder it's actually supposed to go into? You might have been recording all kinda stuff and didn't realize it was recording lol.

Mostly though that happens with drivers. I have used an i5 4590 with a gt 1030 and still had no issues recording. Albeit. Quality sucks.

My process to this madness is to put together 2 different compilations. 1 of this, this video is basically just me gathering and editing the files together in 1 file. And the second one I will make will be of mostly gozy stuff. Vehicles. Rushes. ect. Then once I get that edited, release that like this one. Then combine the two into about a 20 minute compilation video of the best stuff. Ill take out the intro/outro snippets and make something decent. Ill add in diffferent music scores (non copyright stuff) but keep the game sounds. Only using it for theme breaks. And then ill go crazy pumping that video out to hopefully get it picked up somewhere.

Yall can watch too if you want, my mostly limited sniping skills on display. lol. But any additional views will help me once I really try to pump out the good one.

King, thanks so much for spearheading this initiative.  It’s an amazing game that I think can still be viable due to the complex aspect of the multiplayer world.

Also, I wouldn’t be against donating to an advertising fund to try and get the world out.  It could be similar to how shai takes donations to keep the server bills paid.  I don’t know what the cost of different advertising costs, but if it’s reasonable, I bet we could collectively come up with a decent amount.

I doubt anyone would be opposed to trying to grow the player base of the game.  Well, at least until these young punks come in and start owning EZ…  pshhh, won’t ever happen, build the community!

Also, just how easy is this game to install now days?  I remember it being kind of a pain in the ass last time I tried.

I only ask because I'm watching some YouTube videos w a decent amount of views and people are posting they can't figure out how to install it and view servers.  I use W3D or whatever it is.

Couple things. Firstly with the game being a pain in the ass to install, it is lol. Most people will probably not have access to the disks anymore even if they had them. Know where to get a serial. Ect. Hell last year when i came back i actually had to cut out a cd player from an old laptop and hotwire that sucker into one of my Sata ports just to temporarily have access to a disk drive! Then i had to mess with compatibility modes. Then had to search out shady serials probably banned a thousand times before. (Like me sharing serials with ILL just is an example. Some of them are probably used like the town bike) And they Haven't even put cd players in most cases since about early/mid 2010s. Granted you can still buy disk drives, internal and external. But it's just one more barrier between normies and playing. Secondly. There is a command and conquer series that's on steam or epic i believe that has renegade in it. But. If i recall it's quite expensive. Another barrier. Inspector though sent me to the demo version of the game that's much easier to get up and running, which that demo version contains all the necessary files in order to get W3D up and running, and then obviously the game will download the maps automatically when you join up. This is the route I'm going to attempt to go here to install and get running renegade on another of my computers. It just so happens that i have ordered parts for two new systems for my girls new computers that I'm going to be building and getting setup this week. I figure this is actually a perfect time for me to put this part of my plan into action.

I'm going to start from scratch on one of their computers, doing a complete walk through of installing, patching, getting running renegade. This might actually be the most important of the videos I'll put on this channel BECAUSE it is a pain in the ass to get the game running. You'll be able to watch start to finish, how to get in the game as long as everything goes smoothly with this demo version. Which i looked into it a little bit, it does indeed look like all necessary files are present with it where the patches and everything else you gotta download takes care of everything missing. All you really need is the base batch files. If this goes smoothly, i could actually just port those files somewhere where i could link it, making that even easier.

Thirdly. It's a very niche genre for YouTube. YouTube likes niche content, but they don't necessarily like to get niche things on the traction to success just because at best, it's the kind of channel that is only going to get hundreds/thousands of views. My placeholder video that first one, got around 100 views in a day without me really doing anything other then applying the right settings for channel growth. The second one I'm hopeful will have a similar trajectory. Same with the third and fourth ones I'll get out this week. That's actually considered fairly good for a brand new channel in a niche genre. But it's still never really going to get anywhere, even if i were to pay for advertising. So it brings me to this. .

It's done out of love. Done out of wanting something to do. I will essentially BE the advertisement. A lot of the channels I'm speaking about that do retro stuff, they do reviews, gameplay, ect. A lot of them get a lot of views because they are covering a niche genre still, but a broad one. I will go to them, and reach out they review renegade. Which they do it because it's how they are making money with their channels, they are always looking for new content. And their viewers are always looking for new games to try. Which is why i really need to make this easy for both those who i will reach out to, and those who will watch them, to get into the game. To see what it's about. Which is why if i make these specific videos I'm talking about making, they will be able to link to my channel and from there, everyone will have a walk through as to how to actually get it setup. It's kinda like playing the lottery. All you need is one decent size channel to take you up, and suddenly you have 100 new players getting on the server. That's where I'm at, at this point. Doing the editing for simple things like this video and the one I'll put out hopefully later today after work, it's very easy. Time consuming but easy. But to do the kind of video that i really want to be able to promote is going to take a little more effort, but the payoff with something looking good, is that hopefully if i do manage to get someone to pick me up, it will generate enough interest to intrigue people into actually taking a little bit of effort to get the game running.

That's the plan so far. The other issue i could see is this game, at this time. Is probably one of the most noob unfriendly environments that you could ever imagine. I mean we have the hard-core people left primary. People who know the game inside and out. Most everyone has skill to some extent. Imagine just downloading renegade excited to play the game, to get into it, have absolutely no idea what the hell your doing. And getting Sniped the second you walk out of a door lol. It's an uphill battle us oldies take for granted. But if we can hit the lottery and get a hundred new people in the game, hell they will have a lot of the day to the server by themselves to learn as really we only are active with the vets for a small period of time during the day.

A lot of hurdles. But i got nothing better to do as i sit at home and watch kids. So I'm all in for the challenge lol.

I don't think it works that way with those launchers in particular. At least I'm not sure of a way around it. The game gets attached to them and then only allows one computer essentially to use the game. I'm sure there's ways around that with just file copying but that's a bit out of my pay grade of hacking knowledge.

I'm interested in what your using though exactly if it's not requiring a serial or anything else.

1) someone should record a youtube tutorial on how to install renegade from scratch...windows 11 and mac os

2) id donate to a fund to try to get more players

3) kingoberv you are missing RxD textures

4) you owe me royalties for that text in the video
