Li0n
Hey guys, how's everyone doing? Sorry for being absent for so long, was busy with life. Anyways, the other day I decided to check Ren if it was still alive and to my surprise it seems like it still is. However when i tried to join the server, the game asked me to update the scripts which i did. I installed 4.7-4 but when i tried to run the game it doesn't start and gives two errors. The errors are attached below. So far, I have done these steps myself : Re-installed the game, without updating scripts, the game works fine but of-course I can't join any server After updating scripts, the error again pops up and I can't load the game even offline The only considerable change in my system from back in the day when I used to play is that I have upgraded to Windows 11 Can someone help me fix this? Would really appreciate since I don't understand what else can be done to fix it.
Goztow
I has this problem and it has something to do with Windows' Protected Folder feature blocking writing to the Documents folder. I'll have to search how I fixed it, I will get back at you if I find it.
ExEric3
Try put this file (paths.ini) in Data folder where Renegade is installed. There are stock *.mix files etc. And try launch it. If it will works then copy content from C:\Users\YOURPROFILE\Documents\Renegade\Client\ to (I dont know your destination folder but from desktop icon properties u can get it. This is just default example destination) C:\Westwood\Renegade\Renegade\Client\ By this way you will force leave UAC protected folders like Program Files and AppData in user profile. And TTFS files also needed to be moved C:\Users\YOURPROFILE\AppData\Roaming\Renegade\Client\ttfs\ to C:\Westwood\Renegade\Renegade\Client\ttfs\ paths.ini
Li0n
Thanks Eric for the assistance, I did as you mentioned (put the path files in Data and copied the files from Client and ttfs to Ren install folder) but the game still gives the same error upon starting. Should I do all the steps on a clean install instead as upon the TT installation, the mixcheck did run and downloaded the latest mix files so my maps are not stock like you mentioned. Looking forward to your solution as well Gozy

Goztow
Right click on the file you use to start the game, then go in properties -> compatibility and there "run this program in compatibility mode for windows 7" and "disable full-screen optimisations". Maybe also run the program in admin mode, donno if needed. See if that works.

To what exactly should I rename the Renegade game folder? I'll try to re-install Ren again and this time perhaps different version of scripts and see if it works out or not. Thanks for the support guys.

Li0n
Okay so I uninstalled the Ren and did a clean installation and then installed the scripts and apparently it is now working. The other problem i ran into afterwards was that the mouse wheel wasn't working which after doing what you told Gozy fixed it. Crazy that there are still 20 + people games happening, wasn't expecting that lol
