I am Jealous of the Beta Servers

The new beta servers (not sure if its allowed, so im not writing the server name) are so popular.

Even at morning times 120 ppl playing on their servers which are full or close to full :o

At the peak times of the day they have more than 200 ppl gaming.

I got zero clue why ppl play this beta mod instead of playing original C&C Renegade mod which is the best out there.

I hope one day we have Rencorner crowded 24/7.

I recommend you hop onto all of the RA2:AR servers and beg the players to join Rencorner and tell them that Renegade is awesome and it's the OG W3D game and when they say no then tell them to give you a big mac

It's because it's a free standalone mod, anyone can get it and run it without having to pay money. Also it's brand new, so people are trying it out which will balance out to a consistant playerbase. This happened before with Interim Apex where everyone was playing that for a week or so.

C&C Renegade is still not free after all these years. I know you can still get it by other means but officially it's not free.

We will see later where it will stabilize. I can say my server is not filling anymore because MPF took all players with 3 servers. Today started China with hosting AR and MPF is empty also. But there are work days actually. Plus Fori described it. Ren is kinda hard to setup since TT is not officially distributed.

Plus there are major perfomance issues at clients and servers so basicly for mostly Ren people with laptops its unplayable mainly with iGPU based on Intel.

Exactly. It will start to fade out in a matter of days. I wish it wouldn't (as long as we still have our playerbase, I mean), but it will. Then, it's going to be played mostly on Ren anniversaries and similar events.

The mechanics and balancing is worse than like having demonrage, doomsdai, and factionGM all on the same team

I guess I should be honored to be name dropped so quickly considering I came back to ren a month ago after a 10 year hiatus.

 

AR is pretty fun. It's a new game so it is bound to be more active with all the hype. Do I wish more people joined RenCorner? Yes. But something I have noticed is that there is a lot less community when playing AR than RC, at least on the public servers we see populated. But we can still be happy with both AR and RC population bases. Don't take everything for granted!

Y’know… I don’t have stats to back this up. But I think over time Renegade RenCorner server has actually gone up in players. Sure MPF is dead but I literally am playing like 15v15 or 20v20 games and it’s like 9-10pm Eastern. I recall playing these times before and RenCorner was completely empty. Maybe Steam helped with this. But for a 25 year old game I think it’s not too bad and even got a bit better

yes especially after steam like last 1 year amount of players in rencorner increased, but i still miss the days dozens of servers were crowded 24/7 like 20 yrs ago

It would be cool to have another server or 2 with decent populations. I think we are realistically near the limit of how much the game can grow though. It's a 23 year old game and is pretty jank compared to modern shooters. It's also a bad experience for new players. I genuinely felt bad crushing new player tanks during the Steam release and I'm like average in skill level. There was also a huge spike in people accusing snipers of cheating. The game in general also has a steep learning curve for multiplayer. It's really easy to be useless and just die all the time if you don't know what you're doing and most people will quit before they understand the game enough to have fun. Outside of gameplay issues, there was also technical issues getting the game to work. Needed to follow guides to get Tiberian Technologies to work  with the Steam edition just to be able to play online at all.

Like Mdogg said, we are doing pretty well for such an old game. Not many this old are lucky enough to have a stable playerbase.

No, man, don't say that. It's definitely an old game, made in 2002.

 

But it's the most beautiful and best game in the world.

 

It's enough that it has moderators to combat cheating.

 

Modern shooting games also have moderators, but they don't act wisely or rationally, and they abuse the servers.

Not sure what you mean. Do you want to advertise the game on placed like Youtube and Discord? You don't need anyone's permission to do that.

That's what I mean by realistically. It's very unlikely EA would do that. I doubt Renegade HD would be profitable enough for them to bother. Also, Renegade X has better graphics but isn't more popular. It would also split the player base between new vs old Renegade.
