Thought I'd give the topic a Scottish title, given my location.

Yeah, I'm another one of those "I played Renegade back in the 2000s and (semi) recently got back into it" people. Gonna say Ren was my main game between 2004-2009 before I moved onto TF2 and L4D. Then later I mostly moved on from playing video games. Looking at my previous posts on RenegadeForums it's funny to see what teenage Xylaquin was like. I'm 34 now.

I can't remember what made me pick Renegade up again, I think it was around Christmas time 2023. Convenient timing really, as there was a project to breath new life into Renegade at the time and then the Steam release happened and it's nice to see the game is still populated to some extent. Incidentally, I'm playing Renegade with the same mouse I did 20+ years ago. An old beige Packard Bell ball mouse, as part of my sleeper project to recreate my very first PC.

I must admit I didn't play on marathon servers back in the day, the long haul slog of just constantly repairing, shooting at nothing, attrition warefare and never being able to play the objective doesn't appeal to me. Nor am I sniper. The best moments in Renegade for me are when a plan comes together and we destroy a building.

Finally, does anyone remember that PC program called Xfire? Before Steam counted your play hours or let you chat in-game, Xfire did that. I really wish I could see how many hours I clocked up in Renegade (and transfer them to my Steam ofcourse lol)
