brookesxx Posted Friday at 04:13 PM Posted Friday at 04:13 PM Like the improve layout - mentioning not enough votes yet and clearer text. Could I suggest also putting instructions e.g. press Page Up or Page Down to vote Yes/No somewhere. Or even just type !Vote Yes etc. I don’t think all players know how to vote. So an extra line may help. thanks for keeping the game alive. 1
Developer ExEric3 Posted Friday at 05:46 PM Developer Posted Friday at 05:46 PM Keybinds can be modified so its user setting. How to vote is displayed in a chat. <RCAOW> Host: [RC] A poll has just started to add time limit for the current map. You have 30 seconds to vote "!yes" or "!no".
iK4l3l Posted Friday at 08:21 PM Posted Friday at 08:21 PM great improvement.. another suggestion, need 60% voting for poll to be counted, can we add the percentage of total votes (yes and no), so we can see how close we are to %60 voting?

Xylaquin Posted Sunday at 07:51 AM Posted Sunday at 07:51 AM I don't think it's a case of people don't know how to vote, it's hard to miss the poll box! But the 60% requirement to pass, and the lack of enforcement to vote has created a culture where people spam DO NOT VOTE in the chat feed when they want the result to be no. Proposed system: For the first 20 seconds, the poll mechanism should remain as it is. But if after 20 seconds a player still hasn't cast a vote, force them to in the last 10 seconds. If a player ignores the forced vote, kick them. We need to appreciate that some players can't immediately vote because they're in the middle of a fight, planting a beacon, rushing into a building or doing something that they need to prioritise. That's why immediately forcing a vote for everyone is a bad idea. However the above system, which only forces it on people who haven't voted after 20 seconds, ensures that players who are genuinely busy can finish what they're doing, and ensures that everyone votes so that a conclusive result is always achieved.
MarcPoulet Posted Sunday at 12:41 PM Posted Sunday at 12:41 PM That's an idea but I can hear Solidgold 500 miles from here yelling about the forces vote because ge didn't notice or cared about Fr3nzy 10th poll to remove the timer

They had 20 seconds to vote, if they can't get a split second in that time then they're forced. And if they don't vote in the forced, then that means they're either AFK or being uncooperative. Kicking people that don't vote even when forced would purge the server of AFKers and pests. 7 hours ago, MarcPoulet said: That's an idea but I can hear Solidgold 500 miles from here yelling about the forces vote because ge didn't notice or cared about Fr3nzy 10th poll to remove the timer lol, that's another benefit of my proposition: by ensuring everyone votes the vote is conclusive, the playerbase has spoken, so Fr3nzy will have to put up with whatever the result is.
Goztow Posted yesterday at 05:28 AM Posted yesterday at 05:28 AM We already have a force vote which pauzes the game and enforces the result of a vote. This seems a more appropriate way of forcing people to vote than getting rid of our player base. 2
Xylaquin Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Yes but that requires a mod to create it (as far as I'm aware). Plus it pauses the game and causes disruption to everybody. My idea would mean that, effectively, every vote is forced... but it would only disrupt those who choose to ignore the poll that's been on their screen for 20 seconds.
BiLLaBoNg Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I think what might be a better option, is considering non-votes as a 'I don't care' or simply including a 'don't care' (or similar) option. First to 60% - whether Yes has more, or No has more, would win. Ie. If 40% say yes, 10% say IDC, 10% say no, thats 60% voting total and Yes would win. Just suggestion something neutral to this conversation - don't shoot me (I'll headshot you first, anyways).

Don't you think if half the nod team gets kicked and the whole gdi team stays , the game will be disrupted?
Developer ExEric3 Posted 5 hours ago Developer Posted 5 hours ago 1st Dynamic ratio (based on player count ingame) = people will bitch why some polls passed and some arent, simple people cant read and mainly they ignore numbers or even dont know how to vote see first post. 2nd Every player count as "no" vote like in CS = nothing will pass because no votes would be majority but that 60% votesrequirement will be always claimed so its losing main point. 3rd that Billa idea as third vote type "I dont care" is also crap since people get notification over chat, sound and custom dialogs notifications for running actually poll and max 40% of people are usually voting. And again some people dont know how to vote or just ignore it. See first post again. 4th Giving ability for enforced force polls from players like OctoberWar/Fr3nzy will distrupt more game matches. Thats reason why its limited just for RC staff and they are also scared to use that. Also this was already discussed in another topic and I closed it because it goes nowhere. So lets leave it how is it now and finally start to participate with votes on a running polls. 2

No sorry. All you guys want to do is skip Under and Field and Hourglass. I get it these maps take long. But any other map is either NOD or GDI sided and is over within 10 minutes. I don’t vote on maps like field, because i DONT want to exceed the 60% vote percentage. everytime i do, the chances become bigger the map gets skipped. So no. also make the box 5 times smaller than it is now, or again. Stop allowing voting in the middle of the game. If you are doing something, looking at some angle or want to aim and all of a sudden this thing pops up, it changes the outcome of what could’ve come in that moment. Either only have a ‘skip current map’ pole at start, and a automatically poll at 5 minutes before end to remove time. Or make the first one as it is and any other poll inbetween only as text in f2 chat. Also stop people from spamming “VOTE YES, SKIP” all the time. Want people to vote? Don’t live in the real world, let a man choose for himself. Thanks.

Also you say "finally start to participate with votes on a running polls" but that's the very problem we're trying to fix... people DONT participate. It's like NLsRene says, he doesn't vote because there is a greater chance that No will win if you don't vote. It's also just like you say, people don't read. ...or maybe they can't read because there's so much crap filling up the textfeed. I've tried to suggest how to improve communication, but that thread got locked too lol 3 hours ago, NLsRene said: Want people to vote? Don’t live in the real world, let a man choose for himself. Thanks. I agree, people should choose for themselves. If you agree with this principle then you must also accept that people may vote differently. So if people vote to skip Under, we have to be ok with that. In the same way, if people vote to stay on Under and not have timed, then we need to accept that too. The whole point of getting everyone to vote is to make it a decisive vote with no ambiguity, showing that the players on the server have decided x y or z. And at the same time, I have laid forth a suggestion about how to do that, which doesn't disrupt players who are in the middle of actually playing, as well as how to handle players who choose to troll, and as a bonus it would also kick the AFKers. 5 hours ago, Goztow said: Don't you think if half the nod team gets kicked and the whole gdi team stays , the game will be disrupted? That would only happen if half the nod team was AFK or if half the nod team decided to ignore the poll and then continue to ignore the forced poll. An incredibly implausible situation.
