Legacy Players, Where are they now?

[dragonfre]

I played Renegade a lot between ~2009 and 2012, roughly speaking. My little brother (Frodo721, now jacoobyman) were total noobs back then. I remember quite a few names from back in the day, but I don’t see many of them active today.

We played Jelly obviously, but we really preferred the heavily scripted and modded servers, Wittebolx and Cloud-Zone. (My favorite memories are using !buggy to squish an 8000-credit character, or spawning !nneg silos to punish the other team).

I made a list of usernames that I remember and then used the Wayback Machine to remind me of others that I used to play with.

Just for fun, take a look at the list and let me know if any of these guys are still active and/or what happened with them:

• AnOrphan
• b0Bm3h
• B0bslayer
• BiGcELLo
• canisnip
• comp_uter15776
• Darkorbit
• genobrien
• havikryan
• M0nKeyZ [active today]
• nodforev
• Noman09 [admin]
• OSTKCabal
• Random_Fire_Guy
• Sonic
• spy123321
• SxDarkOne (DarkZero)
• WubWub

DarkZero and M0nKeyZ are the only ones that I’ve seen around since I started playing again after 13 years.

GenOBrien is a moderator, he plays regularly.  I don't recognize anyone else on that list as I didn't really play 2009-2012 much.  But we do have many players who have been playing for decades now, several of them since well before 2009, some since release at 2002.  I played 2002-2008 then restarted 2024.  Average age at Rencorner is probably 30-something tbh
