Question for you all.

there would be no....NOTHING, humans wouldn't have invented anything or evolve in any way .

for example : Albert Einstein decided to ask himself "what if someone shoots light out while moving at 90% speed of light , will he shoot faster light ? " this question lead to  some of the worlds hardest theories and greatest inventions (nuclear bombs and generators.....)

so, no hypothetical questions = no creativity and no evolution < = >animals :P

Why ask people rhetorical questions?

To consider whether or not they could be put to practice .  Without the ability to wonder, think of where society would be.  When JFK proposed (May,1961) we go to the moon by the end if the decade, it was already a theoretical question (whether we could  make it or not).  The result (one of many), is, smartphones (miniaturized electronics).

Without the ability to think in the abstract humans would still be living in swamps and wiping their asses on oak leaves.

Humans are the only sentient creatures in the known universe. The only thing that sets us apart from all other forms of life is our ability to think in the abstract.

Without this ability humans would not have evolved beyond the level of swamp dwelling trolls.

Although some days the Shoutbox tends to contradict the above statements.

As I recall Gumby you still wipe your ass with oak leaves :)

At least I've evolved sufficiently to know the difference between oak leaves and stinging nettles Mikey.  ;)
