An aggressive new ransomware called TeslaCrypt is targeting Windows users, and it breaks new ground by expanding on a familiar yet successful formula.

...

It deliberately locks you out of your computer or your files, and then demands money to let you back in.

...

TeslaCrypt targets some well-known games including Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, DayZ, Minecraft, Fallout and Diablo, as well as configuration files for the online gaming platform Steam.

They've had those ones out for years that are similar to it. My moms PC got one before, was a pain in the ass to get rid of.

First off, just for using the name of a genius like Nikola Tesla, I hope those responsible for this evil spend the rest of eternity in Hell with Beelzebub and all his minions pushing red hot pokers up their assholes 24/7.

Second, while i deslike ransomeware, thank God they're not targetting Renegade.

I got one of these a while back, but I fixed it with a system restore O.o

Since then it's probably evolved I'm assuming.

the problem is you can eradicate the malware, but your data files are still encrypted with a strong encryption. If you don't have backups it is gone unless you pay the ransom - and if you leave your backup drive connected all the time, the backup files could be encrypted as well.
