Renegade Scripts 4.2 is now in public beta

For those of you that didn't know, Renegade scripts production has been resumed and 4.2 has hit public beta which makes many improvements to the clients game. We have got it to the point where its ready to be tested more broadly by the public. 

Client test build can download from http://www.tiberiant.../launcherqa.zip to install it just extract the files to your renegade data folder, when you first launch it should update to the newest released public build.
 

Main differences that players will noticed in 4.2 (thus far) are:

  • Many single player bug and crash fixes.
  • Improved modified map support, crashes caused by drastically changed maps well no longer happen.
  • Player vehicle and weapon reloading is now synced between all players (only works on servers running 4.2) this means that you can actually use enemies reloading to your advantage.
  • Fixed primitive shockwave effects (they won't stay completely visible and then suddenly just disappear, or always appear at the players camera).
  • Many other features that servers running 4.2 can make use of.

will it fix pimp rockets blowback? that shit hurts

Are you talking about when you get shot in 3rd person and shoot at your feet instead of your target? If not I have no clue what your talking about lol.

yah but when u shoot ur feet with a standard rocket launcher its cause the reload action is altering the orientation of the weapon

 

with pimp rockets, even if u give it that extra time after reload u can still hurt urself real bad. I assume cause of the rocket propulsion coming out the back of the projectile (blowback)

But yeah it is annoying, I rarely use the pimp weaps but this does happen to me too

Playing in first person will fix the issue, personally I'd like to see it fixed though as it'd make AI vastly better (no more shooting the ground in single player).

I missed the keyword "reload" in that statment, I went into the code and have tweaked it so now the 3rd person aim down reloading tilt ends 0.33 seconds before the reloading process ends, this should resolve most if not all of the issues people have with their first round on the clip being fired into the ground. Ideally it should also lead to fewer invisible shots due to the round hitting on your client but the person shooting hit their target. Only possible issue I can think of is that the time might need to be made longer due to network latency.
