lucalani Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I have been wondering lately, how did rencorner start? When did it start? I would LOVE it if someone were to answer my questions. Those questions include: When did rencorner start? What was the first game it hosted? When did Rencorner MC start? Who were the founders of rencorner? Where did the name "Rencorner" come from? Someone that at least knows some of these answers please reply i have been DYING to know. x_x
Joetorp Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I joined in July, 2012. That was the reset date for the forums. RC has been around longer than that.
D4rX Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) Animoski started it up. I fed him drugs money for lulz. Drama starts when people found out. Volcom took over. Animoski wanted moar drugs money. I said no. Then he went to suck volcom's dick for cash. He also said no. Then he died. Happy end. Edited April 30, 2015 by D4rX 7
Lucky Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Rencorner started in early 2012. Renegade was the first game it hosted. I dont really know about minecraft but i think after a few months since its inception. Animoski was its founder while ProjectX was its first developer. Its name is mashup of Renegade and Corner, RenCorner. Hope you enjoyed the funny yet incredible fairy tail of Rencorner.
Joetorp Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Rencorner started long before 2012, went dormant and was revived in 2011. 1
Animoski Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) *Posted with permission by Volcom* Well, I guess i'd be the right person to answer all of your questions, seeing as i'm the *only* actual founder of RenCorner.. No, i'm not here to start fighting with anyone here. I've moved on and have forgiven myself for what happened, which was the hardest thing to do. I figure this would be a good time to apologize to the community at a whole, not everything you've heard was true, but not everything was false either. I'm sorry to everyone here, Volcom for the headaches, shaitan for making difficult decisions, D4rx for making a lot of promises I didn't keep and ultimately let down, and the few people still around here that have approached me over the years that just wanted to say "hello" that i've turned away. You know who you are, and i'm truly sincerely sorry, when the times were good, we definitely had a blast and those fun times are something I miss everyday. Games just aren't as fun without a ton of people around you to help make your day better. @D4rX - You donated money to the community, and while yes a bit of it was used for perosnal reasons (it wasn't only weed), 90% of it easily went into paying server bills. I'm not even counting the one time bills for control panels, licenses, and other strictly community only services. If I remember correctly, about $120 or so was used for my own personal reasons. Considering the money i've put into the community myself, I didn't see a problem with it. In hindsight it was very wrong, and at the very least, during my most desperate moments I should've contacted you in regards to my problems instead of taking action myself. I think that was my biggest mistake, putting on an act like i'm some big bad bitch and convincing myself everything was fine everytime I did a bad deed. @lucalani - RenCorner started about a decade ago. I was really young, around the age of 12-13 and was fascinated by the online gaming world. I met my first online friend whose name was Caveman. He taught me a lot of things people my age these days find dull, boring, and/or confusing; like running servers and managing MySQL databases. The very basics of "starting up a community." He ran a community called RenStation. They only had one Renegade server and it was addicting as hell. Awesome modifications to the maps and game itself to bring it up to a more competitive level within a casual environment. He closed down this community a few months after, and that's when I decided I wanted to make my own community. RenCorner was originally more of a dedication/memorial to that very community. As far the name goes, I wanted something unique but that would also more closely resemble RenStation. I was the original founder, but I had a lot of help. Hawk whose still a very good friend after all these years, as well as bbence2 (who went missing shortly after the first bringing of RenCorner closed down) helped me a lot. RenCorner Minecraft was started up shortly after I brought back RenCorner (I believe in 2012 it was?) only because of how insanely popular that new-at-the-time game was becomming. Shadow, who was actually a member of the original RenCorner, somehow found us again when I ressurected RenCorner and pretty much offered to help start up the Minecraft server. @Lucky, ProjectX was indeed our first developer alongside XiiXeno when RenCorner was ressurected, although he's not officially the "first developer" as technically I was back in 2005 and there were tons before them. I hope I answered all of your questions. Again, to everyone reading this: i'm not here to reignite any flamewar, it's far from that. If it all possible, it would be nice if I could be welcomed back into this community as a member if and only because of the sentimental value of being around "my baby" as I like to call it. And regardless if I know or don't know you, you hate me or you love me, each one of you coming onto this website keeps my original idea going and alive. Thank you. - Greg Edited April 30, 2015 by Animosko 4
Joetorp Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Well said Greg, as you can see, we have grown in size and numbers. Joe 3
Animoski Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Well said Greg, as you can see, we have grown in size and numbers. Joe I haven't been stalking RenCorner as much as you guys might think. I don't know about the overall growth and traffic, but I certainly don't mind the way things look. Killing Floor seems to be popular enough, and I can't say much about the Minecraft servers but presumably the effort taken to get a complex hub going should warrant at least a ~500 consistent player base. Overall, can't say i'm not happy!
shaitan Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 The beginning of Minecraft was here, I believe. BioPrince was in charge. 1
Animoski Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 The beginning of Minecraft was here, I believe. BioPrince was in charge. Damn, so it was 2012. Time really does fly by! Shadow was the first to work on the project. Later on when he started going MIA like he usually does, we got BioPrince and Agent to work on it together, remember how much fun that was? Haha, I'll never forget when BioPrince uploaded that report card of all the "cheat" commands Agent used
shaitan Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I didn't really get involved in Minecraft(or kept up to date on it) until you fuckers forced me to download and play it. Holy shit, brings back memories of cheating admins who wouldn't stop. 2
fratboy Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 and I thought shadow was the founder. Atleast he played MC with us... *cough* shaitan *cough*
lucalani Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 Wow this got a LOT of comments. Thank you all, I know understand those topics
RnD Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Minecraft is not RC's number one division and chances are if it ever becomes such, it will not be soon. That said, we have come a very long ways and through many times that were not very friendly to us. We survived a bloody beginning that was between BioPrince and Agent when things finally started to take shape. We survived perhaps RC's biggest change in history, when the ownership of the community changed hands. Today our player count remains slowly growing, but we have never had a better team or a better system in place, our staff are kind, professional and determined. And I am glad to say I have the privalage to work along side them in 2015, that said, RenCorner has had a long and rich history, it has seen boons, it has seen war, what matters most above all else now is it is still here, and it is growing stronger. -RnD 4
Volcom Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Thank you for the post Greg and the apology. I am also sorry for the way things happened, but in all honesty I didn't have many options left. It seems time has done us both well. To continue on from where Greg left off. We began hosting Killing Floor in March of 2013. We started off with three 6 player servers. A couple months later we began work on the big server. This was about that time Shai started to get involved heavily with KF. As it began I was the main Admin of KF and did most of the server maintenance. I believe Shai said something like "Trying to get players in Rencorner will kill Renegade, I don't even want to play this stupid game." About a week later it was all Shai wanted to play haha. From that point on Shai took the lead on Killing Floor. As for myself I went more into managing the community as a whole. Eventually we started up Renegade X servers. At first they were quite popular. But alas the game slowly lost players and I slowly had less time to run the servers. Unable to find an admin we haven't hosted them in a while, until I have more time or we find an admin. We started 2 RUST servers for about a 5 month period which were also quite popular. Of course we ran into an issue again. Our host kept double charging us and we decided to stop hosting until Rust was fully released and had a stable build that didn't reset after every new update. Now lets get to minecraft. We have had many ups and downs, but we are finally at a point where we have a solid staff and development team. With the help of the minecraft team I think we have finally accomplished what we wanted from the start. We can code in house. We have solid and stable servers and we have a steady player base. All that is left to do is watch it grow and flourish. Big thanks to Joe and wool and the rest of the crew for all their hard work. We are now generally the most popular Renegade server. We have steady large numbers for the majority of the day. There are far fewer players then back in the golden years, but I am glad we still can have 30+ player games. Ice has been working very hard on our Team Fortress 2 servers and maintains a steady player base. Hats off to you ice! We started a Terraria server off as a joke and actually created one of the top Terraria servers out there. Shai is the main guy in charge of that after JKS decided to explore real life. Big thanks to Joel! Most recently we have launched 5 servers in Killing Floor 2. The servers were an instant success. Majority of them being full at any given time. All and all we are almost at 2000 registered members on the forums. We have all grown as individuals as well as a community. I have developed friends I know will last for many, many years to come. I look forward to continue watching the community grow and succeed. Also thank you to the community and players for continuing to stick with Rencorner and make us what we are today. Finally thank you for Animoski. You started this community and without you this wouldn't be here. I took the community you started and ran with it. Also a little flashback for you: http://rencorner.co/index.php/topic/1685-anniversary-of-rencorner/ 6
odjitt Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Animoski, Thanks for the in depth history. Lucalani, Thanks for making this post. Very informative and I had been pondering the same question but never asked. And thanks to all those who contributed to this thread. Volcom, Thanks for continuing this community. (BTW is my nose brown yet?). Not trying to ass kiss but again I have been pondering this very topic 1
D4rX Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Must not reply. Could debate half the crap you've posted, but it's not worth my time lol. Edited May 1, 2015 by D4rX 1

theilsomers Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Don't forget about me lol I help keep shai calm when he's not on killing floor. Someone has to render those services for him. @Volcom But also thanks to me and a few others we talked shai into adding a few more kf servers such as the achievement server, an RPG mod server now I'm trying to talk him and dronez into a dead space mod server what can I say I like a challenge. But the hard part about that is getting dronez off runescape long enough to do it.
DrSithis Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Poor shaitan really is going to have an aneurysm soon, all this convincing of more servers. 1
