I keep getting an error just on rencorner that says "failed to download required packages. Game will be left. Please try to rejoin." I tried to maybe reinstall the tt patch again but It worked to no avail!

Since no one has responded, try direct connecting using game2 as your shortcut.

E.g.

1. Right click desktop>New Shortcut

Directory:

C:\Westwood\Renegade\game2.exe +connect 208.115.205.106:5000  +netplayername "theboy"

ah still getting the same error anyway if I use renlist and I tried making a shortcut but it says that file path doesnt exist so it wont make the shortcut. oh well

O_o Use the file path that actually contains your game2.

Open "%appdata%/renegade/" and delete its contents (my full path is "C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Roaming\Renegade\"

If you're on xp you'll find the renegade folder in documents and settings i think

So when you're changing the target, just add:

+connect 208.115.205.106:5000 +netplayername "TheCuteBoy"

As Billie stated, it's probably from file mismatch. The webserver has been working the past few days without incident, and I just joined and was downloading files fine.

Make sure you have the latest Renlist as well from here.

yea I tried using game2.exe and game.exe it just wouldnt recognize it for whatever reason but I did what billie recommended and seems to have worked thanks for the help!

Just out of curiosity what is the information I just deleted? mine was a folder called "client" under the appdata renegade directory. Just weird because it was only on rencorner it would pop this msg up on.

It means you've been flip flopping between our server and MPF(maybe Jelly too). Their files are way different than ours are.

You deleted all files, and will freshly re-download them as-you-go now.

A trick you can do so it doesn't boot you from us again is join each map(RxD) and get those downloaded. Then, when you have the ones from our rotation is go back to your  \AppData\Roaming\Renegade\Client\ttfs and copy that ttfs folder, rename it ttfs1. Then if the issue happens in the future, just delete ttfs, rename your ttfs1 folder to ttfs, and join(re-copy ofc). I do it, for Ren & KF...cause anal.

Yeah, as shai said that folder contains the stuff downloaded by the TT package manager. For whatever reason TT gets confused about some packages and sends the wrong hash which means you get booted from the server.

Changing how you launch renegade (direct connect shortcut/renlist/xwis) will not fix this bug for future reference (and anyone else having this issue)

I'm curious as to why you suggested this

@Pyr0man1c

I suggested it because it bypasses a dll mismatch on my laptop. I'm not addressing the problem, I'm just ignoring it! > :D

It seems I was way off the mark anyway.
