Guest rzrbk1018 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 When someone leaves the game before the end of it why do they still get mvp?
Volcom Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 As I said on IRC it is the way the game was designed. If the current MVP leaves other players have a significant advantage to gain points said MVP cannot. On IRC you had some good points so I suggest you say them here as well and we can have a community wide discussion on the matter.
Guest rzrbk1018 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Ok. Earlier I came into a game that was 2v1. Obviously I went onto the loosing team of 1 and she and I turned the game around. First one person on the other team got mad that the tables had turned and left (RQ) thereby leaving only one. He left shortly thereafter. She and I finished the map but the first person that left still got MVP. This does not make sense to me for the following reasons. 1) It is a marathon game. By entering it you agree to see the game through until the end. 2) If a person has the skills to turn the game around why should he/she not be rewarded for their work? 3) If someone gains 5000000 points the first 10 minutes of the game then bails on it should they really be rewarded for their 'effort'? It just does not seem right to me.
Volcom Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Billie says he can make the MVP to be the player in game with the most points when the map ends. However the MVP will always be the player with the most points hence why point whores exist.
shaitan Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 The people that left earned the points. Why would you want to take away their recs?
Guest rzrbk1018 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Because they did not finish the game. If a person quits do they deserve an mvp as opposed to those who stick with the game?
Mikey Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 'By entering it you agree to see the game through until the end' I don't think that's the case its an option to play not a necessity everyone rq's in this game and I don't care who says that they don't because basically they're lying that's all part of ren! Maybe they contributed to TP all game but had to go for some reason, like shai said why would you want to take that away from them? nobody is in the wrong by leaving dont really see what youre expecting lol
Mikey Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 However the MVP will always be the player with the most points hence why OSTK whores exist.
OSTKfl4p Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 i think the mvp rec should go to the person who has the most points when the maps ends and is still ingame
Guest rzrbk1018 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Again the scenario was 2v1 when I came in game. Sheila and I turned it around. First one RQ then the other did. So because Sheila kept the base alive and I helped change the tide we are not 'rewarded'? even though we were the only two players at the end should those RQ'ers still reap the rewards?
Mikey Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I see where you're coming from in terms of small games, it can be annoying yeah but for myself I've been playing since demo and I don't know any different so I guess we just live with it over the years
Sean Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Billie says he can make the MVP to be the player in game with the most points when the map ends. However the MVP will always be the player with the most points hence why point whores exist. This, I personally think that it would be wrong to take away the MVP of a player that has played and contributed there time to a game for x amount of time, if they suddenly have to leave or just get tired of playing then they should still keep whatever points they have, lets say they contribute 1hour of there life to a game, It wouldn't be fair to take away that players recommendation. However, I can see your point rzbrk1018 - in terms of smaller games, I'd suggest the player with the most points ingame at that present moment in time, gets the MVP recommendation so maps such as 5v5 and lower.
Guest rzrbk1018 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 "I personally think that it would be wrong to take away the MVP of a player that has played and contributed there time to a game for x amount of time, if they suddenly have to leave or just get tired of playing then they should still keep whatever points they have, lets say they contribute 1hour of there life to a game, It wouldn't be fair to take away that players recommendation." But in doing so you are denying any of the other players a chance for mvp. Again Sheila and I won the game (using this as the prime scenario) but our efforts were not rewarded. Why? Because someone quit there by not giving either of us a chance at mvp since there we only three buldings left on opposite team and those buildings split between she and I would not have gained enough points for either of us to be mvp. I am not crying that he quit. I could care less but it seems lopsided not to offer the same chance at the ring for those that stay. And not just for small games btw.
Wyld1 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I'm going to ask the "Ladder" expert (Olddust aka Icyytouch) on this and get back to you. I seem to remember discussions with him on this during the Ren-Archive - Non00bs days.
Guest rzrbk1018 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Points/rec awarded in game are different from end game results.
