vlatkozelka Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 referring to this topic It seems that the community is divided between 2 kinds of people : those who want Marathon and those who want AOW (not sure about vanilla AOW tho) . Well it is quite clear we CANNOT host a 24/7 AOW server as we have tried before and it failed bad. The majority of the players just join to have some fun : goof around , sbh, snipe ... And hosting 2 servers would just kill player count as it would have to be split , not to mention people from Marathon might start joining AOW and ruin the more competitive gameplay. So I was thinking maybe we could start doing what's being done in Renegade-X when people got bored of public games : Weekly organized games where people have to sign up and 2 captains just pick their teams from the players who show up. Just to be clear , this is not a comwar/clanwar of any sort , it is just a way to bring back some more competitive players into the game like Volcom , gumby, joetorp to name some . Team captains would just be the 2 most experienced players who show up and don't have to be the same every week . And maybe we can have 2 wars on the decided day so it can please both EU and USA players. To sum up : organized wars every week ,maybe on Saturdays People need to sign up on forums Players have to be on Team Speak , no need to talk just hear out your team 2 captains pick their teams in alternative order and move them to team speak channels. This way teams would be even as each captain would try to pick the better players first. Maps are voted on at the beginning of each match The teams remain the same during the whole war unless there's a need for balancing Teams change factions every match PS : its on a different server than Marathon , mara server will still be on . I hope you guys like this , I'm really looking forward for some teamwork again on Renegade, and to see some of the older members back in-game
n0dfl4m3r Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) I like this idea. On the point about the server, what would happen if you set the AOW server limit to 8, or 10? Edit: To clarify the question, I'm wondering if it would limit the number of players jumping over from marathon and keep the bulk of players there but give a small number of AOW people the opportunity to play a style they enjoy. So modded mara vs modded AOW, that's it. That seems a bit stiff for the peeps who dislike !buy and engie shotgun, but whatever. From what I've seen ingame and heard here I thought there were many... I don't see how modded AOW can be viable in fact, the points system is skewed as soon as a low-level unit buys a high-level weapon. In marathon it matters less because at worse it makes the losing team last a bit longer before base destruction, but it AOW I could very well see a losing team win because their engie raves waste incoming rushes.

We can do vanilla AOW then ... that's how the comwar server is setup anyways , no mods just the pointfix
vlatkozelka Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 These are called Lobby Wars. Noobs. Yeah well now we got a name for them . Can we start having weekly organized ones ?
pyr0man1c Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 If you want people to sign up on the forums, wouldn't it be helpful if there was a dedicated subforum for this?
D4rX Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Usually lasts a week or 2, then people just stop doing it... 2
