Nudle Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Hi, I just purchased a new laptop which came yesterday, but now when I want to join Rencorner it takes forever to load. When I'm just starting, but also like, 4 minutes to load the next map. Ingame I get these moments of very low (like 1 or 2) fps, and then I even out around 100 again. I've tried changing the settings, but that didn't help, what should I try next?
miatachris90 Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Post the specs of you processor graphics chipset etc.
Veteran Admin Guard Posted August 28, 2015 Veteran Admin Posted August 28, 2015 Well a bit ago it happened with my bro for all his games when he bought a new laptop, major lag, opening stuff time. After a few weeks it's been fine, so maybe it's just new so it needs time to work. Note: I know pretty much nothing about computers.
D4rX Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) I have this too. And my problem was I installed Ren on the non-SSD partition of my laptop. When I install it on the SSD one, it works fine. Still no clue what's causing the FPS drops on the non-SSD one, cause it shouldn't do that.. But /care, I play mostly on my PC. Edited August 28, 2015 by D4rX
Delusional Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 For the "it takes hours to load a map", Iran came up with a fix many many but many months ago, maybe more than a year, can't remember, consisting on creating an empty file on the ren data folder and naming it always.dep . Had something to do with the damn scripts messing a few things and checking files that shouldn't be checked prior to loading each map, and that empty file just avoids all that pain in the ass fixing it.For the fps problem you could create another partition and install it there instead of doing it in the normal one. So far I know it fixes some fps issues.
ehh Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 that only fixes if loading takes 7 seconds instead of 2 this shit happened with me last month, i just reinstalled and it works better (downloaded from the internet doe and not cd this time)
Nudle Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 It's working!!!!! Now for the next issue: My default f2 f3 keys is brightness, I have to use Fn to actually use f2. How do I change that?
D4rX Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 (edited) Could you share which was the solution so others can also enjoy a Ren-orgasm...? As for your next problem: 1. Press the power button to turn your computer on 2. Press F10 key to enter BIOS setup screen 3. Use the left right arrow keys to navigate to “System Configuration” 4. Use the up down arrow keys to navigate to the “action keys Mode” 5. Press “Enter” to open the Enabled / Disabled menu 6. Use up down arrow keys to select “Disable” 7. Press the F10 key 8. Use arrow keys to select “Yes” 9. Press “Enter” to save changes and start windows Edited August 29, 2015 by D4rX
Nudle Posted August 29, 2015 Author Posted August 29, 2015 Sure. I installed Renegade on the D: drive
BillieJoe67 Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 You'll need to check whether F10 is the right key to boot into BIOS. If you're running windows 8/10 in EFI mode, hold shift while restarting and before it powers off, your laptop should show a blue screen with EFI options (boot into EFI device, BIOS and windows recovery iirc)
