Community Meeting/TS

Hey there,

its been a while now since we had the last 1. Is it possible to arrange a new Meeting to talk about a few things within the next Time?

You could as well just say what those things are. Don't get me wrong, I care about the community as much as anyone, but it feels a bit weird to gather the administration, staff and players on ts just because one person feels like, and without even saying why (especially at this time of the year).

I mean, maybe if it was a party, even the players would show up on ts because why not, but I think it'd be better to inform us about what needs to be discussed or what you have in mind (unless you suddenly transformed on Volcom/shai/Manu/anyotheradmin undercover).

What's the point of a meeting? Airing dirty laundry about fellow mods? That is exactly what I'm seeing from this.

Suggestions about improving the game (via adding things, changing them or modifying them) can be exposed via creating a new topic on renegade section so all our players can know about it (and then we can gather people in a meeting to exchange opinions and even create an ingame poll), and complaints about the staff and/or players can be directed to Volcom, shaitan, or Manuel via pm, either on irc or forums.

I'm fine with a meeting about discussing things that can be improved or added as long as its about the game. But seriously, if nobody says it I will:  the "there is a few personal things i will bring this up on TS anyways as it shouldnt be open to the public in general" sounds so much like "Hear Ye, hear ye! I got some bad and nasty things to say about some mods and some players, things that are so obvious to me that you all must reunite, listen to me and correct them as soon as possible" that I can't just even believe it.

You don't need to gather all the team and expose them whatever is wrong with the people of our staff or about the players of our server so they can see how brilliant and great mod/adittion to our team you are. Just pm any administrator as I already pointed out before.

Seriously, you could've done both things: suggesting a meeting to improve and/or discuss important things concerning the game, AND contacting the administration on a private way to report the bad/private things. What just amazes me is that you mixed both, and not once but twice, making me (and I speak only for myself) see only ego matters all around and through this topic.

We've had a conversation the day you wanted to apply: bitching about moderators. Then that team change incident that was bitching about moderators again. That's the same thing one of the Terraria mods has been cured of recently: by stripping his powers until he stopped.

You've had a clean slate chance at being a moderator, and you're blowing it. Do you know why you were accepted? I gave my word when I was messaging people about mod that day, but hey, go ahead and keep digging that hole. I don't need you or anyone else pointing out the bad stuff we do, it's well known.

I'd like to know what this meeting is about, if not that?

Well, in my case I don't really care who says what. At this point everybody knows that if I have to say something I say it, I can be more or less sorry, but I do always say what I feel that must be said.

Leaving that aside, I did have another reason besides the one that shai already pointed out. And it's funny that you mention everyone being bitchy because, you see, the other reason that I had to say what I said is that the other day, I was here and there, and stopped a few seconds on irc to check if everything was right on the server; afks, etc. And guess what. In less than 10 seconds, I saw you complaining twice.

First, saying how bad Sand map was and how much it sucked. And then complaining about how awful pimp weapons were and how much they sucked (just right after you were killed a couple times in that same map by one of those weapons). It's not that we force our staff to blindly support every little thing in rencorner, but seriously, there's ways and ways to say it. Not to mention that a member of the staff saying bad things about the server each X seconds doesn't looks quite good. But hey, it might just be me.

Anyway, while shai is dealing with the staff complaints side, I'm dealing with the complaints as a whole. Since you came to RC, you've complained about pretty much everything. Hell, I'm pretty sure that at some point your complaints complained.

We have the mod/tc incident that you started, we have the elena issue/sounds triggering that you started, we have the racist issue that you did, we have your mod complaints, we have your accusations of cheating towards not only players but also even towards mods of the staff, we have your complaints about the maps, about the weapons, and even your complaints about us complaining about you complaining. Until you came nobody had any kind of problem with the sounds, with our mods, and with many more things. Rencorner was fine, besides the typical "Oh god not under again". You arrived and since then we've been changing things here and there just because you don't like them. Believe me, nobody else had issues with anything. But you, you have issues with everything and everyone.

I'll tell you a wise sentence that I heard a wise man say once: "Don't come to me with problems unless you have solutions".

What do I wanna say with this? Just stop complaining about pretty much everything. Believe it or not nobody likes everything in the server. There's those who dislike the timer and those who would like more timers. There's those who hate under and field and those who love them. There's those who would like pimps all day long all night long, and those who hate them. There's those who love to squad it up and those who think it unbalances things. Etc etc. But as shai said long ago, around the time of the last meeting when so many changes were suggested and discussed in forums and on ts by players and staff :"You can't please everyone". And it's true. Make a change at anything anywhere, even a little one, and odds are half of the people won't like it. And that's when they are aware and have voted or spoken about that change.
That's why I told you to start doing a renegade suggestions/changes/discussion topic, because changes concern the community as a whole, players and staff, and the better place to make everyone participate is forums followed by ingame polls/discussions. But you can't do a meeting on ts where important things about the game are gonna be discussed, it's a no go if you haven't gathered before the opinion of the players by either making a forums topic, asking them ingame, or pm'ing them from irc asking for their opinion. Because it's pretty simple: not even half of our players do use ts, so you can't expect the decision from 10-20 persons that might get in, to represent accurately the opinion of the server as a whole.

And finally, in Rencorner there's no "me" nor "to each one his own". In Rencorner, there's us, and there's only a way to proceed if you're part of the staff. We do things well and right or we don't do them. We can accept that people don't know, nobody was born knowing everything, and everyone can learn, we'll teach anyone with great pleasure. Failure or not being able to keep up with the task also happens, nobody's perfect nor suited for every task.
What we certainly don't do (well in fact nobody does it, except Volcom if he wants, he's the owner you know) is go full solo/commando and take decisions like "let's do a meeting about something I'm so not gonna tell anybody of you, not even the staff, where I do expect everyone of you to assist and hear me". Seriously, nobody. None of us. Before, we'd talk with the players and with the rest of the staff, to know what things are gonna be spoken or need to be discussed. Even Volcom, being the owner, talks with the staff and consults/informs players and staff before organizing anything. It's a basic. You can't organize something without saying what you have in mind or what will it be about. Unless of course it's a mystery meeting, there I'd understand, no need to blow up the surprise and suspense.

Anyway that's all for now, have to give some rest to everybody's eyes.

i suggested a meeting for different reasons and apparently people thinking everything is fine and nothing should be changed are so wrong

 And even if there are things about mods that need to be discussed it would be a fair chance to speak for themselves instead of talking bout them behind their back

Here's what I know: If we as mods (even as a temp mod) have an observation, a question, a comment, a problem or gripe....I have been met with nothing but open-mindedness and helpfulness from all of the "staff" from half mods up to the owner(s)...Approaching them isn't an issue....I've found I get responses very quickly whether it's to an issue, a question or passing along a gripe...(and this is both in the forums and on irc.) 

I'd recommend (as a new mod) maybe to make a "suggestions" forum post and if you have a particular issue with player or mod or in general (game play etc) -- take it personally to someone that can do something about it:

But if you "just have a problem" then there is no reason you need to take it to someone. If you just don't like or agree with someone just to not like or agree with them, you have a problem and not them. I was going to say this before, if you have a problem with someone take it up with the individual and try to resolve it before seeking others assistance. You only make yourself look like an idiot if you do otherwise. Seeing someone make a mistake and then crying like a baby isn't right. Everyone in this community makes mistakes. 

In other words, I agree, if this is going to turn into a slam and shame festival then there is no reason for those who are going to make it one to attend.

As for the "Suggestions" forum, we have the individual game sections where people can post their suggestions in there.

In the end this is after all my opinion, so let there be others who speak to their own minds.

If we are having a community meeting it is to discuss new ideas and changes. Not to discuss problems with staff. If anyone has a problem with a staff member message me, Shai, Strike, or the Admin of said server.

DJ you have difficulty articulating your thoughts in English,  both on the forums and on TS. Better idea is to get you a german mod who is bilingual to seek your suggestions/conflicts on here, rather than assemble a giant TS clusterfuck orgy.
