The food chain is theoretical so I would still be at the top of it. True that insects and spiders are more of a danger than larger predators in a rainforest but that doesn't mean they are higher up the food chain. If you mean how would I, personally, survive if the rain forest was devoid of fast food outlets I would have to rely on my old army jungle warfare training. I have no problem catching, cooking and eating snakes and monkeys. If you mean, specifically, no Burger King, It wouldn't bother me at all. I much prefer Wendy's anyway. Baconator > Bacon Double Cheese. Gumby Well wendys does donuts so im all for it, the point i was trying to make is that it would be hard to survive in a rainforest but you sound like you are tough enough "old army jungle warfare training", for the average person they would probably die stranded alone
StJohn Gumby Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I think being a vegetarian is really a lifestyle choice that people make for a number of reasons. I don't have a problem with that. The only time it offends me is when they tell me I shouldn't eat meat because it's cruel (they usually say this while wearing leather shoes or a leather belt or carrying a pretty leather purse). I don't think being vegetarian is necessarily less healthy either. From when I lived in India I know that the majority of people are vegetarian and as there is over a billion of them, a third of them aged under 20, it doesn't seem that their diet is holding them back at all. Anyway, if we're ever stuck in a rainforest together Hedgehog, I won't let you starve, you can share my roasted monkey. You'd eat it too. Gumby 1

As long as this is your informed choice and your parents didn't force you into being vegetarian (and it seems to me you are well informed about the advantages and disadvantages) then I'm happy for you. One question though, if I may, what would your parents say if you told them you would like to try eating some meat? Gumby
jks101 Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 it's like you people have never met a vegetarian before wow!
AnThRaX Posted December 24, 2015 Posted December 24, 2015 My sister is vegetarian, I don't personally give a shit about it but she has to tell people any chance she gets and she still eats all these tofu burgers and hotdogs and steaks and shit that are supposed to taste exactly like the animals she doesn't want to eat. It really makes no sense to me.

appshot Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Plenty of research has shown vegetarian diets offer various health benefits that strictly meat, or mostly meat-eating diets don't offer. Here are some research articles... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3967195/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26508743 And here is one on why processed, red meat is bad http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26633248 I can post 30-40 more if anyone is interested in nutritional and dietary research

People aren't lab rats. They get around and lie. If you could grow a human in a lab and study effects of different diets on cellular level, then it'd be a valid study. I like a balanced diet. If I liked the taste of fish, I would probably stay away from meat a lot more. But I hate fish, so a steak is my best friend. Also, the argument of processed meat isn't valid for my region either. I have deer grazing in my front yard every day. It's just the matter of buying hunting licence. Not eating meat for moral reasons is a different story and it's perfectly cool. As long as they don't push their morals on everyone else.

jks101 Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 http://time.com/4086858/who-meat-cancer/ " The IARC is not saying that everyone should completely stop eating red or process meat altogether, but that people should consider limiting their intake. That’s in line with other recommendations that say limiting red meat and eating more plant-based foods can have significant health benefits. "
m0a0n7er Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Vegetarians are not exactly vegetarians because they must eat your brain in order to persuade you to be one. Brain is meat, thus vegetarians are carnivores!
vlatkozelka Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 How could you deprive yourself of camel meat ?! 1

lucalani Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) I have just read this and you all have everything wrong. first off, Vegetarians dont eat meat. VEGANS are the people that dont eat anything that comes from an animal. 2nd, some people are vegetarians just because they dont like the meat. I personally am a vegetarian just because i think meat tastes horrible. My whole family thinks im crazy. Now that i think about it......... i am crazy Edited December 29, 2015 by lucalani forgot
masscarriers Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 ^ this, including the part that says you're crazy of course. 1
appshot Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 @fratboy have you taken a biostatistics class by any chance? Because your 1st claim makes little sense. 2nd off Lean red and white meat are great nutritional sources. 3rd off a balanced diet is best, meaning no mickey Ds, soda and all that sugary crap 4th off low-carb is better than low-fat diet 5th off Healthy lifestyle and daily exercise is a must 6th off There is no "fat but fit" or "fat but big boned" bullshit. 7th off Abdominal fat is the worst 8th off Don't worry, be happy 9th off
Volcom Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Be vegetarian or eat meat I dont care. Just buy pizza. We offer both varieties and have multiple cheese and crust options. If you Vegan and don't eat cheese I don't have much room for you in my life. 1

appshot Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 food types is KNOWLEDGE you should know. and what does that have to do with what I said?
lucalani Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 Tofu, green beans, milk/yogurt, seeds, papaya, and peas are all high in protein for their food group. This makes them ideal for a vegetarian diet. Weird people that are VEGANS cant have milk/yogurt.
