the sort of knowledge i was talking about is where to get all the vitamins and such not "what food type is milk", my point was that all the nutrients are there is large amounts you just need to have the knowledge to make a healthy diet

Ahh I see you are referring to micronutrients(vitamins, minerals, essential AA and FA) rather than macronutrients(carbs, fat, protein) Of course the more information the better. And milk isn't a food type. Milk is a food product which contains numerous nutrients.  It is still great to know what foods provide the most nutritional value such as high protein-to-fat ratio, etc.

To your second point, its a slippery slope. Sure, there is plenty of highly nutirutious food, but most of that is expensive and time-consuming to make. There are things such as food deserts and other socioeconomic problems that add to obesity, diabetes, digestion problems, and other "Western" diseases.  Take a nutrition or metabolic biochemistry class if you are currently in college. Lot of interesting stuff

Ik milk isnt a food type xD thats why i said "What food type is milk" because it is a dairy.

I can get enough highly nutritious food and its easy to make, granted it costs slightly more than the food you eat its cheap enough to eat as a staple too

You can ask the same question of the gay movement.

Being gay is not a movement ... Not even on the same level as being vegetarian.

Back in the 60's and 70's it was called 'the gay movement' Jesse.

Though, probably, only Joe and myself are old enough to remember that.

Not aware of a specific 'vegetarian movement' so I think Joe's comment was meant to be analogous.

Gumbo, I forgot I am talking with kids, not born yet,  I'll talk with the Queen about awarding a title of Earl to your name.

There are lots of things you could say in the 60's and 70's that are no longer acceptable though.  You guys have had 40-50 years to change your ways! :)

And that is our fault?  Wait until you get to be our age and see if you want to change your values just because "the times they are a-changing."

We will be gone soon enough, but there has to be continuity between the generations, you have to know what came before you to understand where you are now.

When you get comments such as "ZOMG VEGETARIANS ARE BAD AND THEY ALWAYS GO OUT OF THEIR WAY CUS DEY SPECIAL LIKE THAT CEREAL" the topic will go far. As someone going into the medical profession and interested in metabolism, I have contributed my share to this topic as well.

Now we talking about gay movement and generational worldviews...  smh

Who else's fault would it be? I have changed plenty in my lifetime already.  I was raised Catholic so I used to think gays were the worst thing in the world, then I got to a public high school and realized I was brainwashed.  My grandparents are absolutely racist, that doesn't mean my parents or me are. It's really not that hard to change.  You just choose to be stubborn, that's your perogative. Just because you were around during the Jim Crow laws doesn't mean you still get to follow them.  There are plenty of progressive people your age and older and I'm sure they weren't granted some kind of superpower.

Jesse, I have gone through a multitude of changes in my long life.  The "Baby Boomers" were in the forefront of change!   Not all change is good though.  When you are young, you are idealistic and feel the world owes you a living.  When you age, you get more possessive and protective of things you own, because you spent a lifetime working for them. The Constitution was conceived by some shewed men, it has been around for almost 240 years and has been amended about 26 times. Not bad for a document to reach so far into the future with so little changes to it.  I read that college students want to limit "Freedom of Speech," they want "safe"zones where you can't say anything offensive.  Who is to say what is offensive?  Just because someone says something that makes you feel offended doesn't mean it should be banned from your universe, does it?  We had a saying when I was young, "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never harm me."  Your generation is too narcissistic.

You say a lot of things from the 60's are not acceptable, how bout the Civil Rights movement or Abortions?   What about Feminism?  EVERYTHING including the GAY movement can be traced back to the 60's, so get off your high horse and realize the shit we went through back then laid the groundwork, so you can say and believe the shit you have today.

To call someone racist who lived in the 30', 40's, 50's shows your ignorance of the times, yeah, according to 2016 standards they may be racist, but it was what it was back then.  We didn't have the intrusive government back then.  We had people respecting others, we didn't have black on black shootings, we didn't have everything based on race, no quotas to show we ain't racist.  If you qualified for a job you got hired.  We didn't have a black president that has done nothing for the black population that helped elect him.  We didn't have a country divided along racial lines.  We didn't have US citizens wanting to join an enemy to bring down the country that raised them.  If a family was going through hard times, the local people and Churches would help out.  People didn't have a dependence on Gov't to tale care of them from cradle to grave.

I was a progressive before you were born, and you know what?  I realized when President Reagan was elected, that Conservative values made more sense.  Not giving away the store to those poor unfortunate but lazy people who have their hand out and won't work for anything but are satisfied with their position in society at the low end.  The Progressive movement is nothing more than Socialism.  Give everybody a life and let the rest pay for it.  We use to want to aspire to be rich, that kept us hopeful of tomorrow.  Your generation, it seems, despise the rich.  The Progressive politicians want to give away everything for free, (tax the rich, let them pay their fair share) but in return, you have limits on your life, because you are in debt to the ideology that is trying to enslave you.

Who do you think started Political Correctness, it is nothing more than an assault on the First Amendment.  Look where it has taken your generation, safe zones in college!

well joe i cant comment on most of this because i am not familiar with american history

but ur point at the end about "safe zones in college" i agree this is ridiculous, to quote futurama "21st century colleges are basically expensive daycare centres"

Posted

also its funny how the two of you are sort of acting as representitives of your generations

May the odds be ever in your favour
