Delusional Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Table of contents: -Introduction -Three main points -Renegade, a 14 year's game -Advice on how to be a good mod -What a mod shouldn't be -Acknowledgement section Let's see. As you mentioned above, you already applied some time ago, and your application was rejected. With that said, I'll point out a couple facts and things, which none of them reflects the opinion of the staff, but just mine, so take this as my own opinion, and nothing else. First of all, saying that you see a lot of aim bots and weird situations, you're just implying that our staff either refuses to do their job, can't do their job, don't know how to do their job, or just aren't able of doing it. Second point, by saying so, you're accusing our regulars of not being clean, but dirty cheating players. Third point, you're then jumping to assume we need another mod which main objective is to harrass any person or player that he finds suspicious. Understand this, and I dont mean to be rude, but after 14 years of renegading around, you'd expect some players to be good and very good at that game, don't you think? That some people aren't able to improve so much, or that are worse than those that have been playing for 14 years doesn't means that those that are very good have to be cheating. And thing is, in the last months, some players just accuse of cheating any player killing them (mostly sniping). Which is, by the way, immature and childish behaviour. Add to that the fact that many of our players have a +200 ping, and then you'll see a lot of weird shots and situations. But all of that proves nothing, besides that it's an old game, that many players live far from the server, and that a good bunch have mastered a couple sides of this game. So my advice to you or to any person willing to be a moderator in the server is: a moderator main duty is to help the server, it's players, to keep everything in a good shape, not only the server obviously, but the atmosphere, the attitudes, having everyone happy and enjoying their games, and when someone needs your help, you'll be there to help. And if things get serious, you'll be there to settle them down and to solve them, nicely and with a good mood if possible. But what a mod doesn't have to do, and even less one that wants to become one, is state that his main objective is to start a witch hunt against X players and act as a Big Brother watching everyone cause there's bs going around. That is a way of intoxicating a staff and a server's atmosphere, so whoever is willing to apply should drop that attitude and get one more along the upper lines. Anyway that is only my own opinion. PS: Big and many thanks to mass for being my inspiration and my greatest hero. 5
masscarriers Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Great text but please next time Delu add a table of contents and an acknowledgement section This x1000: 12 minutes ago, Delusional said: A moderator main duty is to help the server, it's players, to keep everything in a good shape, not only the server obviously, but the atmosphere, the attitudes, having everyone happy and enjoying their games, and when someone needs your help, you'll be there to help. There's nothing glamorous in being a moderator, it's a volounteer work towards helping people and maintaining server stability. Or at least it SHOULD be. People who thinks the greatest thing in being a mod is being able to spectate/mute/kick people are exactly the type of people who shouldn't be mods. Most of us, myself included, didn't apply to reach this status but were actually asked by a staff member to become a part of it. I wouldn't be mad or feel bad if they decided to remove me for w/e reason. There's a notion of humility and objectivity that you need to apply to yourself and others when granted moderator responsability, and by asking why you were denied like that you just proved us that you were seeking these powers for the wrong reasons. 3

There are almost no hackers left in the game and we wont take action on those left that we suspect until there is proof. With such a smaller player base, it only hurts the community if we take some serious actions like 24 kicks and whatever. Basically the job I do as mod boils down to kicking afk's, responding to !pagemods messages, and occasionally abusing privileges to give out credits or do "mad" sounds. And like carriers, Shaitan actually asked me to become a mod here, I never asked for it. edit: which reminds me, my sounds list is outdated, can I get the file names for the last batch that was added? carrier, wltdo, smoke_weed, ext 1
BeerBaron Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 ah cool. I promise to use that knowledge only if its funny. !snda Pylons.mp3
warlord83 Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 It's all good despite what may be said I see issues with some of these snipers. It tends to happen at night when mods aren't on. It's probably better i was rejected I don't play renegade much any more. But thanks for answering my question.
WNxH3adSh00t Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 I was accused of aimbotting because I killed a med with a railgun on Under. Most of the people in ren don't know how cheats work and will complain about everything. Saying you see 'far many aimbots' is very wrong, there aren't any aimbotters in the game, maybe there are 2 out there that use TB but that's it. If you saw a player getting 20 headshots in a row(not impossible at all) what would you do? Ban him right away or get proof?
