Where will Renegade be in 10 years? Where will you be? And will you still play Renegade?

I was thinking about Renegade and how I've been playing on and off it got me wondering. I use to play Starcraft, took 10 years off (school/life), and when I came, battle.net (the server Starcraft uses) was empty when I logged into Starcraft. When I returned to Renegade, people were still playing. Within a year, Jelly shut down. I don't really game much, only Renegade a little, so I was wondering if people would still be playing Renegade in 10 years. I'd like to come back on for the nostalgia of it.

Where will Renegade be in 10 years?

I think because servers are hosted instead of just single games hosted by individual players, Renegade may fare better than Starcraft, assuming Rencorner or some server continues to be hosted. Where do you think Renegade will be in 10 years? Do you think people will still be playing? Do you think it will be less than now? By how much?

Where will you be in 10 years?

I think we all have some idea of where we think we will be in 10 years. I know I couldn't have imagined being where I am now but I did have some plan as to most the major things and followed through, for better or for worse. I finished law school at a third-tier law school a couple of years ago in California and graduated will decent grades and passed the bar but I am not practicing law and have no intention of doing so. I have decent undergraduate grades (~3.8) which could potentially allow for me to go to medical school but I'm 27 and haven't taken any of the premed classes. I'd be about 40 by the time I finished residency. My little brother is 24 and in his 3rd year of medical school at an allopathic (M.D.) UC institution (California) and he seems to love it so I'd like to give it a shot. I'm not competitive with him at all, but just giving his age to give you an idea, he'll be around 30 practicing out of residency, I'll be around 40 if go this route. I may be away from Renegade again for 10 years. After that, who knows. Like I said, I think I'd at least play once in a while for the nostalgia of it. Where will you be in 10 years? Will your engagements in life keep you from Renegade or do you think you will decide not to play altogether? Or will you play once in a while? How often?

Do you think you'll still be playing Renegade?

If so, how much / often? I guess this goes back to whether Renegade will Renefade away in 10 years and we are all part of that equation. I couldn't say for sure if I'd still be playing at 37, but I'd like to at least once a month or so. I'm sure I'd at least visit for the nostalgia of it. Hence, I'd be sad if no one was on anymore to play.

Look forward to hearing back.

Cliff notes: see bold/italics and answer. Thanks.

Can't you write a book or something? Great question, but I ain't going to try to say anything sensible in less than 10 sentences.

I've been playing since demo, I have times when I play a lot almost everyday and times when I play occasionally. But my life is becoming increasingly busy and my time is restricted due to that, but I will always be playing ren for as long as I can tell. (With the exception of the next few months as i'll be living in America :P)

I played the Demo Multiplayer over and over again (Demo was delivered on the disks with Medal of Honor Allied Assault) since 2002 and when Renegade was released I bought it from the little money I had and played it untill 2007. The reason I quitted was because of the lots of cheaters in there (especially the damage hacks and aimbots)

The fact that since December 2015 (a House, a Wife and 2 kids later) I came back to see what's left and I found a warm community of players. I think the game keeps alive until all possibilities to keep it running will be gone.

Watching the trends of Faster internet lines at home (the average house internetline nowadays is much faster than the internetlines that the gameservers in 2002 had), I think the game hosts will be the players themselves.

So yes I think Renegade will stay for at least the next 10 years, until it's impossible to keep the game compatible with OS versions.

Perhaps it will become a Online game? That can be started from browser in full screen with the experience of the original game?

It will be banned for causing too much gaming drama or it will be awarded for being the only game in the world to cause so much drama and rage after all these years.
