Dr Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) Hello, My university's IP Address is having issues, I think it is flagged on Rencorner for being either muted or banned. I go to UCI (University of California, Irvine) and I get flagged based on my IP on my university's network. Could someone remove the IP address from the list? I am referring to IP address: 68.109.198.XXX - I don't know if it is safe to post the entire IP address but I think you can see it on the forum. Let me know if I should message it to someone, otherwise, I'd appreciate it if the IP could be safe listed. Thanks. Edited January 7, 2017 by Dr
Dr Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) FlowerPower. I play all the time and I am not banned or muted, but I'd like to play on my schools/dorms network. If I play on my schools network, I will get either banned or muted, I am not sure which, but I think that my schools IP is flagged. Please let me know when it is removed, thanks! P.S.: There are 40,000 students here at UCI (University of California, Irvine) and 5,000 employees/staff. People live on campus and a lot of people are on this IP Address, so if you could also safe list this IP Address, that would be great. Edited January 7, 2017 by Dr
masscarriers Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 There is no record for the IP address you provided in our database (aside from you of course), couldn't find someone who was banned. What message do you have when you try connecting? Maybe it'll help us pinpoint why it won't allow you.
shaitan Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Weirdest ban topic ever, all bans(but the few worst cheaters/mr.ed) were unbanned Jan 01.
warlord83 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Any one with a little knowledge can get your IP so it's not as secretive as most would like.
dippy Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 If you can take a screenshot of the message you're receiving, that would be most helpful. Even better would be if you can jump on to IRC before you try and connect, and see if a mod is available to review what happens.
Dr Posted January 8, 2017 Author Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) I guess I made a mistake. I was never personally banned but I assumed being at a school with over 50,000 people on the IP would make for a bad idea connecting through (based on some other people on the forum mentioning IP bans were possible) so I thought early on I saw a message but I probably saw someone else post here about their message. From then, I just never used the schools IP and thought I'd come here to clear what I thought would be an issue for me so I could play at dorm(s)/school. I'm up north now, but I connected when I was back at school so it seems like there is/was no issue. I suppose we could just close/delete this thread since it is a non-issue. I can connect fine. I appreciate you all looking into the matter for me. Thanks. Edited January 8, 2017 by Dr
DAMPERTJE Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) It is save to post an IP Adres if u dont have open port to the outside world. :P remote desktop, server, ftp etc but better you send it full to private message Edited January 8, 2017 by Biertju
dippy Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 You're not wrong - connecting on shared IPs can cause issues. Wouldn't be the first time we've had to implement a workaround. Glad to hear it's sorted! Post back here if it plays up again.
