Blacky Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 What does everyone think about allowing mrls to rotate 360 degrees? I would increase the price to like 600 if added. There also would be a setting for per map to enable/disable.
Manuel857 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I'm down. The MRLS are designed to rotate 360 degrees anyways. Renegade was just retarded. 1
Goztow Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 You cannot up the prize though. How will gdi counter an early arty party?
u00fzTar Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 You could make it for both, like BunkersTS. But for me there is another question: Allow 360° rotation? For every map? Or only "special" maps like BunkersTS / MetroTS? Do you remember the pimp hummvee from Niagra? How about it? (Or others like the recon bike) Isn't there the danger to go a way like MPF? To change or add abilitys, which cause a new gameplay?
Guest rackz Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 it will never suck as MPF's version of imperial age. i want rotateable mrls for every map.
Learonys Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 MRLS in bunkers was powerful because their missile speed pretty much doubled. which meant they weren't easy to dodge, intentionally and unintentionally. This would balance them out more than a 360 degree rotating turret imo. But both have advantages. I'm going to miss the infantry splashing behind a corner though :(
shaitan Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 If you can make it an extra, then try it. If it's a forced 1-MRLS type of thing: it will change gameplay(gdi shall lose more with price hikes). 2
AnThRaX Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Can't increase the price, would just make the MRLS somewhat viable in certain situations. It's not like a rotating turret is an outright advantage. I think the only way to curve rockets around corners and shit would be to flick the mouse with the right timing which I'm sure the majority of renegade players won't be able to do. Advantages: Can now defend behind, usually if an MRLS is snuck up on it is just too unreliable holding V key and hoping the rockets do a loop-to-loop and land on your target, with the turret level it can just shoot directly at your enemy leaving you less of a sitting duck. - Can hug walls on field for example and not be so exposed when firing; however, the rockets will have a straight forward trajectory so I'm not even sure if you can hit an arty hiding behind the rocks anymore as you kind of need that arch from looping them into the sky first.
Blacky Posted March 16, 2017 Author Posted March 16, 2017 They originaly did turn 360 but they gave the mrl a handicap after determaing it was op. This is why I never added it before. It would definitely change gameplay. You could still 6 lock. I could probably make it so you can lock turret so you still shoot around corners. I will add the ability if we don't like it we can disable it.
shaitan Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Nice...because I always hated those ones from FieldTS anyway.
Guest rackz Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 (edited) use both rotateable and not rotateable, just add another entry to the purchase terminal list. then you could add reconbikes for nod because they are fun to drive around. profit for both teams :p Edited March 17, 2017 by rackz
dippy Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I vote to leave it how it is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but an MRLS already has a higher DPS than an arty right? So it stands to reason that the arty should have a different advantage. Price increase can't happen. Would tip the advantage to NOD in a big way.
creed3020 Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 I personally never liked the rotatable MRLS and would prefer to see no changes toe the balance of the vehicles. It has a domino effect on pretty much every map.
Guest rackz Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 (edited) and how abou 2 mrls? one rotateable and one non-rotating? the vehicle buyscreen is big enough to add some entrys/presets :P those changes wont even need a Download size of 5MB! Edited March 19, 2017 by rackz

That is an idea and would be even easier to disable/enable. The problem with that is we would need to ship an objects.dbb which we dont currently don't do. This would make the client to require sctripts 4.x. we currently allow players with no scripts to join stock maps but RxD maps require scripts 4.x. The objects file is almost exactly 5mb.
Guest rackz Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) hmm make statistic that count how many players use no scripts. and display them a pamsg to get scripts. actually rxd maps always have many players, so it wont be a big loss from my view. also mpf has a stable and high playercount, they already use a custom .ddb for all non modded maps. so, if you add it then add reconbike awell please :p Edited March 21, 2017 by rackz

Would tip the advantage to NOD in a big way. Makes me think though. People with no Scripts, or don't know how to run them only get to be able to play at RenCorner for marathon/AOW games. If RC is going to require scripts for every map now, this could potentially keep away a lot of those, but also first time players. From time to time, a random person DOES decide to give Renegade a try, and off course he is not going to know what Scripts is. Blocking access to both populated servers for these kinds of people is definitly going to hurt the playercount in the long run. If it requires a custom objects.ddb, I say don't do it. Not worth it imo. Edited March 21, 2017 by Learonys 1
dubstar Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 add them to RxD maps for the time being? may help in deciding whether to implement them across the whole rotation 1
shaitan Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 We're not ditching non-scripts users. We still get a few newbs who wouldn't be able to join otherwise. 3
Guest rackz Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) Rotateable MRLS and reconbikes on rxd maps only sounds even better! EDIT: cant we just have a vote? you know these common forum votes. Edited March 21, 2017 by rackz
mdogg1108 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I prefer to just keep the game the way it is. Willing to try of course. 1
Theboy Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 If people are getting bored with the game and want something new then add in recon bike and a separate mrls that can rotate. Price it out however. Its not going to change anything in game though. Your team either works together and wins or they dont. 2
