Hey guys, i've been wanting to come back for a while now, but now i've finally come up with enough money to get myself a 'decent' computer, spent £1000 on one

but i'm running 64 bit windows 10 and i tried to install renegade but an error comes up saying i need to check with the software publisher due to the version?

i tried changing compatibility modes (ALL OF THEM), makes absolutely no difference

any solutions?

Runs fine here on w10 64, I use a cracked version though, not the decade edition

I'm using a steam version from i believe  decade's and no issue. Windows  10 64 as well.

OK, same situation a OP - new computer, need to install Ren. My old CD is dysfunctional so I followed the link to the installers.

1. The install disk image [1] - it says that image is invalid

2. In the ren-game2 folder there is another image. That can mount as an image, but when running setup, it gets 10% through and crashed out.

I have my existing installation on the old computer. Is there a way to just move it across? I have copied the files but it presumably needs some dlls registering and some registry entries to work.

I can't find it on Steam, as someone suggested.

Really thinking evil thoughts about Microsoft right now, for making such an abortion of an OS, which makes it so hard to do simple things...

Cheers,
Jez

I think the issue is to do with renegades installer being old af, windows can't keep on supporting things from 20 years ago forever...

$25 on origin

https://www.origin.com/gbr/en-us/store/command-and-conquer/command-and-conquer-the-ultimate-collection
or from a keys website...where you will get emailed the code and redeem it on origin.

$5.71

Once you have it on origin, you can download it via origin, then install TT or whatever, and from that point on, you don't even have to launch via origin anymore, just shortcut game2.exe up

I cannot remember which one of those two are the install disk. I would try [2] if that first did not work. There are two more in there to try, the one you probably did was rENeGAdE_iNSTaLLdISC_eNglisH_bACKUP.ISO

The other one is: CnC_Renegade_GameDisc.iso

As for the question of copy/pasting: some people can. I used to be able to get by with it, but the last one I did I had to install(and I'd even copied my registry over, sometimes it would work).

I did indeed try the funny cased one. The other is not an install disk I thought.

However, I copied my registry over, and then my copy from my old machine almost worked. I had to install the Visual C++ redistributable as well, and then it would launch.

However there were no servers available. So I went to xwis and registered my nic there - again, as I presumably had done it before, but... It did ask me for a serial number to register my nic on xwis - but then it told me my nic was already registered. But after doing whatever that all did, the server list started working.

Now to remember all my shortcuts....

Thanks,
Jez

Probably best to use renlist for finding servers anyways, its quick and easy rather than having to launch the full game, plus if xwis goes down, you can still see the servers

I was able to install with the original discs on win10 64bit, 2.5 years ago. Not sure if I had to use a compatibility version, but I remember I was nervous this won't work but somehow it did.
