shaitan Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 My pc is dead, so don't go murdering each other and stuff while I'm not around ingame. No display and no post beeps. Swapped monitor Swapped video cards Removed RAM sticks Cpu/video card fans/lights come on. My luck it's the motherboard or power supply. 1
Vultima Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 What motherboard you got, as in exact one, might be able to help out seeing what actually is wrong

I was just reading some articles on the CPU, since the CPU light is on(my regular setup), but now it shows the RAM light flashing(the old parts). Hmm I got some old RAM sticks somewhere, gonna try that next. Edited May 22, 2018 by shaitan added info
Vultima Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 It can't be ALL the ram sticks, so if it was RAM booting with at least 1 would work. Try resetting BIOS via jumper slots too. But if your sure that your OLD motherboard and CPU worked, it could be a problem with the PSU getting power to the CPU, hence the CPU error
shaitan Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 The old mobo/CPU worked, I just got new ones. Also, the old RAM didn't work, I know it worked in that old setup before. This is going to suck to replace shit...goddamn bitcoiners jacking up prices. 1
Vultima Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I cant see how ALL of your ram cards died together, that would be super duper unlikely
Vultima Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 But yea if the RAM has an XMP profile that your setup doesn't like, it won't boot
shaitan Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 Both my boards have the MemOK switch to make them compatible, yet, I used to use those old ones in that same board for years. Going to buy a new PSU...CPU...board in that order. Don't really have a way to test the PSU, and I'm not messing with the old one with wires everywhere(gotta love those newer modulars!). Actually, maybe I'll try that tomorrow...not putting it inside just to test stuff. o.O
shaitan Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 Scrap that order, since it's the cpu light, going with that first. Reason, that exact one is half the price from what I paid originally. surprising, considering everything else is 2x.
Vultima Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Is this CPU and Mobo new? Given you said old one, or been using it for awhile?
War0n Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Try using only 1 mem bar. Also: all psu connectors attached?
Cjx0r Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I'll hold it down.. 25404433_127339268054841_7166638655522471936_n.mp4
shaitan Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 Last night I'd taken out the ram and replaced it with my old ram. I also tried the sticks one by one. I did do the jumper trick(booklet shows how), and pulled the CMOS battery as well. I just hooked up the old PSU with old vid card(new PSU is 1000w, old is 700w...old PSU wouldn't power the new card(it's why I went to 1000w before)). "New"=2015. "Old"=older PC parts. Every setup has that CPU light on and no post. Maybe I'll get lucky and the ordered CPU works. If I get desperate enough I'll try to rebuild the old PC. It's been so long I don't remember how, most of it is Romex cabling. o.o

I did tell you the other week to get a new pc...but noooooooooooooooooooooooo don't listen to me then :o
Blacky Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Bummer. Why the fuck did you have Romex in your pc lol. Sure it was the cpu? Did the cpu light ever flash.
shaitan Posted May 18, 2018 Author Posted May 18, 2018 The old pc I was trying to get going since this one was dead, blacky. It has the romex cabling. As soon as I popped in the new cpu, it started right up.
Blacky Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Yeah lol, got that 12 Guage Romex to feed 12 volts haha. Think it would actually look cool. But if there was ever a short the wires would never burn probably need inline fuses besides one in the psu.
Joetorp Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 I wonder if he had a junction box inside the box! lol...
shaitan Posted May 19, 2018 Author Posted May 19, 2018 Why are you guys so worked up about the older pc and it's romex? Mofos that thing got me through a lot of Left4dead and Renegade! This is the old one that I was hoping to get running: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119235 5-7th pics you can see the cabling...since you two are so hard for cables.
Blacky Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Not sure what romex your talking about but we where thinking you where using electrical wiring in your computer. If you did you probaby burn the house down lol. https://www.amazon.com/Southwire-28828221-SIMpull-residential-electrical/dp/B000BPG1ZC/ref=br_lf_m_zuqgepy6e8hd559_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&s=hi
Joetorp Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Shai. Those are called cables when they are attached to connectors. Don't know where you got romex from, but that designates a particular kind of electrical wire used in house wiring.
Joetorp Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Molex is a brand name of connectors, https://www.molex.com/molex/products/group?key=connectors&channel=products I've used them in products I designed and serviced.
