Loki Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 All they do is completely knock apc rushes out of the question, because if you rush and don't succeed you either have to use a remote to kill your shell, or your enemy just got a free apc. Which is pretty stupid when it's already marathon (Camp Fest). I may be wrong, but I think it would make the game more balanced and make more sense. If one team doesn't have a strip/WF shells just make the game into a bunch of repetitive gameplay, when it should have ended and went to next map. What do you guys think?

I do agree about the apc rushes, that's just not a good idea because you give them vehicles, same goes with med/light rush. About your last statement, about the wf/air gone, you still buy vehicles, so that makes not really much difference. They still can get vehicles and it still can go on for ages. I also like the shells sometimes, makes the game more dynamic cause you actually have to feel bad when your med gets destroyed and you need to take care of the shell. In the end, I don't care about the shells, if we have them or not, both have some good/bad things but it certainly changes gameplay. 1
Loki Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 Well spoken, shells have their advantages as well as their disadvantages, either way is fine with me.. and I can definately understand making the game a little more dynamic after 8 years of us playing it. Like you said, either ways fun, but it does alter the gameplay a bit, and also how you approach winning. I guess it's cause i'm used to Classic Aow, which is 30 minutes time limit, and promoted teamwork. I think marathon is better now though because people would rather battle it out on one map for a while, than cycle through every map in the rotation within an hour.

(i think) i think the shells were added for the fact of a vech limit being only 15, make shells then refix u could have 30+ tnks since it is a mammoth ssrv

You have one to four guys sitting at the back of base attempting to build up a shell rush, some others come around and troll, others pitch in for no other reason than not knowing what to do... overall, it gets a decent number of players away from the front lines, where even inexperienced players can do something more than nothing. Aside from that, I've yet to actually witness a successful shell rush, seeing as you rep up tanks, some rush and get blown, respawn and take the rest. Only advantage it has over buying is getting tanks back into the field and owning it for a bit. So... why not put a percentage chance of a shell spawning on vehicle death? Perhaps the vehicle was damage enough to disable, instead of outright destroy. Just a little way of keeping shells for those who like it, yet ridding them from constantly appearing making the ol apc rushes viable w/o giving vehics en mass to the other team.

xFastIII Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 only problem is , if u remove them or make it 25%, lets say GDI lost the WF and Ref, nod rush 3 light, they kill ur med but u kill 2 light and other = 15 hp, u kill tht u cant fix ur own vech cause there is no shell. i dont see a problem with the shells. u only APC rush if ur more than 50% sure it will work, ofc there is a risk but thats the idea?
