walking nuke

I swear it was in rencorner not that long ago where there was cr8's where you became a 'nuke'. I remember even one map think under where it was full of people and I got the cr8 then I bolted back to base while it was counting down...bought an apc and in the last 2 seconds before it blew I pushed my way through maybe 30 arties to make it on the outside of the ob and blew it up. I recall peeing my pants with laughter as many were in chat too haha....can we please bring back that walking nuke again it would make things interesting for a bit I think....or at least every other week for those that will complain its an unfair advantage etc...

Agreed this would be fun, could make it spawn about the frequency of the spy crate or even a little more often. Would also help if you got a team that's been holding the field for awhile.

It's a dumb idea and a cheesy way to win a game. MPF has that with the kami and all you do is go next to a building and die so it gets destroyed. Yesterday on some dumb map we lost buildings to that shit.

Imagine Ren maps like Under or Field with that thing on, just go out from the tunnels, get killed by defenses and destroy a building.

Unlike their kami crate, with the nuke you have exactly 60 seconds, not too early and not too late, to position yourself at the right place.

Maybe this crate can spawn only after 1 game hour has passed?

let's also bring 10 second nukes/ions, let enemy teams also pick up the opposing beacon, so everyone gets confused whether the nuke is actually theirs or the enemy, agt and ob gun, weird characters that have like OP flamethrower and vulcan gun or whatever it was and homing rocket launchers, have the ability to do !ammo so an engineer can kill a building instead of having a hotwire/tech, ability to call in AI characters who have aimbot, oh and don't forget, sbhs with ramjets/sniper rifles :v

There's a whole world between blowing up a building by the inside with C4 and just running up to it with a nuke crate trunks...

All I’m saying is woj was bringing fourth a suggestion. Shaitan said it’s too OP. 
 

Sometimes you have to embrace change, shake it up. 
 

Renegade is getting smaller, new ideas or shakeups should be welcomed.

I'm not against walking nukes becoming available after 2.5 hrs ingame time though. I say the more ingame time, the more random OP shit should appear in crates. E.g. a 6-hr Under game should have crates that spawn an uncrushable {Bot}Volcom for either team with 50000 hp and 50000 armor, 5x speed and has 1 shot kill auto guns for soldiers and tanks.

 

ps at least this way we can make use of the stupid new scripts

id prefer walking nuke at 5 minutes than play on the garbage maps that have been added

Shaitan just pointed out that it's been tried before and it wasn't good, it was too strong and gamebreaking. How is that against embracing change? It's been tried, and a majority of people didn't like it so we go back the way it was.

But then again you're always pushing for this place to become like mpf, more modded and with more maps, even though we explained before that we're the last renegade server with a somewhat more classic experience.

have you seen the maps that have been added, only because 1 person wanted them? and the players dropping because of it?? dunno man, seems like if 1 person dont want change, it doesn't happen

There would be more Ren players if things like IA/RenX didn't exist nowadays. Or at least if they weren't up 24/7. They claim they keep the Renegade community alive by "innovating"; but in fact they pull away the little remaining players that there are to their servers. I legit see old rene players ONLY playing IA/RenX now. It's easier for people to detach from a game when there are similar and more modern alternatives out there under the same titles.

 

Whenever I play X or IA, even MPF - I read people all the time complaining in my streams about how the game has changed and how that is no longer how they remember their experience.

Bring back Sand pls, and limit Gobi to 20 mins as well. Mara Gobi is ALWAYS won by Nod sbhs when there are a decent amount of ppl and balanced teams. Not too long ago we still had 40-50 ppl games before the rotation was changed.

The player count dropping had nothing to do with that. The counts dropped in June, like clockwork, but this time they didn't change-out like usual(winter and summer has always been a change-out of people coming/going.) This time is just like what happened October 2018 when we had barely anyone.

The playercounts took a massive hit during June. July 18th was a very noticeable decline. Oh, if you bothered to read this other topic in here you'll see I edited the maps on July 4th(we had the best counts that month up until the 18th). Yeah, I really did it because I(and only I), wanted those maps.

 

Playercounts at the end of each map, added up per month:
Jan - 12542
Feb - 13974
Mar - 12723
Apr - 13031
May - 13006
Jun - 10944
Jul - 9433
Aug - 2614(til 30 minutes ago).

It boils down to active moderators trying to get the server going. If you look at us versus MPF: they actively do so on Discord. I've asked twice now for getting some new blood to help out, eventually I am just going to do it myself. Our current guys are mostly active, we just need more on the times they aren't here.

I apologize if I ruffled any feathers in my posts. I think in 2021 if Renegade wishes to survive, we need to keep embracing change, and at the same time, we can't forget our roots.

MPF runs fan maps and fun spawns/pickups.

Rencorner is more of a vanilla experience, with some of those fun spawns.

We all need to work together. Jonwil is back and working on scripts at W3D. If people are unhappy with the current update, just make an account there and voice your opinion.

Yeah and get banned for making a joke with a warning that the next one will be a ingame ban too. No thanks. Same happened with Testament.

You want change? Alright, re add the option to buy guns at an absurd price.

Maybe a few different crates that spawn after 1 hour, like super hotty or maybe a Tanya crate with OP pistols and some sort of timed c4 that can destroy a mct by itself. 

Bring back nuke/ion crates, they were a really fun part of the game. A midget mammy would be hilarious to see too.

Maybe every 5th map or so make the game pure vanilla without most mods.

Just some ideas.

I say if you can't find a way to kill a building by walking in you are not trying hard enough. 

But, I found the walking nuke to be a fun addition.  Most of the time it was killed before it ever got to the enemy base.  Yes, it is a little cheesy, which is why I like Wnx's suggestion that it only pops up during a long game (2 hrs plus I'd say). I think we could add some other crates as well after 4 hours. 

Let's not go crazy with changes though.  I love this server because it does stay closer to vanilla Ren that anyone else.  Like Shai and Mass have said, we have tried many changes and I am sure we will continue to evaluate new ones in the future.  But let's stay true to our base.

Personally I like long marathon games.  They usually result from good teams on both sides.  That is when you need TEAMWORK to gain the edge and overpower the other team.  Or, you need someone real sneaky (Saurontwo is a good example).  But the challenge of a long game is to WIN it!!!

So work together and you will have more power than a walking nuke or super tank!!
