Weekend Switch Up

Hey guys!

We recently had an admin meeting and we want to try to do something new. We want to switch up the game modes in the marathon server Friday-Sunday every weekend. Right now the game modes we have available are Marathon, AOW, Domination, and we will have Capture the Flag and Mutation soon.

Mutation is one of the original planned game modes for Renegade.

MUTATION--------Game starts with one "Mutant", and the rest of the players are "Regulars".Regulars have a limited number of lives.When a Regular loses his last life, he joins the Mutants.The last Regular alive is the winner.When the game restarts, a player is randomly selected to be the new Mutant.

 

So, What do you guys think? Do you like the idea of the game modes switching on the weekend?

I definitely would like to try this out. Really sounds like something people would enjoy!

 

I hope you guys will get a separate server in the future for these events though - I think people would also want to flip back to Marathon during the weekend sometimes.

The difference being WD made one and Zunnie made ultras

I like wd's system regarding getting control points much better.

never liked splitting up the player counts with 2 servers.

Ugh, not a big fan as I'm usually spending most of my ren-time during weekends and I usually play marathon-only. The new maps are already a big change to me and those have only been added last week or so. I'm also fearing this may affect player count, every map they'll have to re-adapt to a new mode. Due to the summer, activity on the RC ren server has been increasing, and I'd hate to see it all gone again. I'll only speak for myself, but I'd rather play on a different marathon server tbh.

 

This is just my opinion however. If the majority agrees to implement this permanently in the marathon server, I'll accept it but I will lose motivation to play here.

 

Tl;dr, server is fine as it is now.

I agree with the suggestion of only having it for a few hours a day, than for the entire weekend.

There won't be a separate server - I was wrong in bringing that up because, as Ehh said, it would split the player count.

Could the modes be part of the map rotation?  That way, say, the modes or mode can be played along with marathon.

It's being looked into on what our possibilities are. We are looking at a !poll gamemode and the players in game would be able to choose what gamemode. I do like the idea of having it on certain maps.

If he's able to make it so instead of just being played on the M0 maps, then it might be ok. If it's kept to those maps only, it'll get boring real fast. Those are mainly good for DeathMatch/COOP(because in those styles there is a bunch of shit to do).
