This way many great maps end too fast, just because 2-3 ppl donate to some1 for an apc instead of going there, do some harassment to the harv or c4 buildings for money. I'm proposing a delay of about 2 or 3 minutes for the donation command, the amount of minutes can be discussed but I honestly think disabling donation for a few minutes would really make the server better and some good non-defense maps won't end so fast. Opinions? 2

ehh Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 there might actually play the game properly instead plenty of maps are ruined in 6v6's and less because one team donates and one doesn't in the first 5 seconds donating isnt teamwork.

If both teams work together I don't see a problem. If only one team do it of course it's a problem if it's not the team you're on. Teamwork isn't that great here at RenCorner because Marathon servers tend to promote selfish pointwhoring rather than teamwork. Probably explains why I prefer AOW and Commwars to Marathon. Gumby 1

Few people have learned teamwork, Teamwork happens with a leader, in public games, few people step up. 5 minutes gives each side a chance and makes the playing experience fun. Joe

I'd be happy to play 'pure mode' personally. Once you introduce mods to a server the problem becomes finding a balance so they aren't overpowered. donate only works fairly if everyone uses it properly. If one team has all the teamplayers the other team is fucked. Joe, Sorry, you're quite right. I forget how much older we both are (and wiser hopefully) and most young Renegade players fail to grasp the concept of teamwork. I guess it helps if you've served. Gumby
Feda Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 I see more teamwork in a group of guys attacking the harvester or rushing an enemy structure than in a first minute apc rush. A good 1 minute apc rush, so a full apc, is almost impossible to stop cuz of remotes, so basically if the enemy team doesn't donate for an apc as well I see it too difficult to not loose a building. I'm not looking at it from an oldschool point of view, I'm just stating how many good maps end within 5 minutes just because there's a full apc rush coming in 50 seconds killing the ref/pp. I see no harm in adding a 5 minute time limit, if those ppl "teamwork" for the apc they can very well teamwork to inf rush as well I guess.

The best compromise I can think of is to disable donate for 2 or 3 mins (5 is too long). That way an APC rush is still viable before the whole opposing team mine up and have tanks. Not sure of the exact time, I'd have to work it out from the credit rate and time to first Harvy drop. Anyway, I guess Volcom or shai would have the final say on this. trist, again I take your point. Sarah Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Well, I personally think this is a good idea to have it at 5 mins because it ruins the game if a main building is destroyed. Plus with RC being a marathon it can go on for hours which could possibly make people want to leave.

It'd get a chance to factor more of the infantry/attack harvester/crates in. Teamwork would be to defend the base from an APC rush.
shaitan Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Killing the base within 2 minutes doesn't promote more players in the server. I'm not sure when that was changed(months ago), but I always had it set to 2 then 5 minutes.
