Evo
Honors US History Summative assignment: Write an editorial using the essential question " Was the US constitution "good" for the newly formed United States of America?" Now I already have a lot of information like it was bad because it ignored the issue of slavery, and in containing the 3/5ths clause bashed African Americans as well as women. I also know that it was the first form of a centralized government and was a good first step for the colonies to break their ties with British government. Please try and back up any information you have with facts, opinions are also welcomed, Thanks! jks101
Well. Take a look at our pledge of allegiance. You've already said that not everyone was equal during that time. Even though it says at the end "....With liberty and justice for all" WRONG. It almost seems if we have contradicted what we've stated. Going back in time The American Revolution wasn't justified, they kept breaking rules as British citizens, illegally smuggled fodder to the Dutch/Portugeuse (idk which one), and put France into major debt which resulted in bloodshed. Seems a bit shady to me... I do think the government system is one of the best during the time period. They included both Locke's and Hobbs's theory which nobody really thought of... Unfortunately that probably didn't help you. I'm still learning about the French Revolution If you want to ask yourself: How did the constitution affect other nations, how about the people, or the economy? I'm still learning about the French Revolution If you want to ask yourself: How did the constitution affect other nations, how about the people, or the economy? The American Constitution did directly contradict what they believed in, however at the time they believed that African Americans were not people, so they thought that it justified their decision, however it did not. The constitution helped the French economy prosper and put Britain into a great debt as well as losses from the Importation laws that guaranteed Britain raw materials for cheap, and then the colonies to buy the finished product back from them, they where 100% certain that they would sell it, so the constitution economically in origin hurt Britain, boosted France in the global race for power, and started America on track for greatness as they could now trade with whomever they wanted. However the U.S constitution was put together out of pure desperation, there was no equality! The constitution helped plantation owners, while ignoring slaves. They tried to have a centralized government but that failed as each state could have different policies which involved making African Americans pay a fine to settle in their state, no for pay for the land! Also there was no sense of centralized morals and values as there wasn't a judicial court system that could rule on evens in every state

"Write and editorial," you mean "write an editorial" The Constitution of the United States, when drafted was like no other document in history. The fact that the Founding Fathers allowed for amendments to be passed, corrected any issues that arose with the original document. The Constitution dealt with how the Government was set up and its relationship with the States (ie the 3 branches of the Federal Government). The 1st 10 amendments set limits on the Government's power with respect to the people's rights who live under it's rule. God bless America! France helped the colonies gain independence because they despised of England and wanted vengeance. ~10 years later France wants assistance from America, but they back off. France's social and economic structure collapses, bloodshed is occurring everywhere and hundreds of people are dying everyday. I guess everything is okay now since the US is helping France???? The joint stock companies are British citizens England did not break the social contract in anyway until the colonies provoked them. Anyways, make sure you include Hobbs's and Locke's theory, they play a big role with the government's system. No other European country really focused on both at the same time.
