vlatkozelka Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I'm planning to get the Nvidia GTX 970 and there are 2 versions of it available . one is 4 GB VRAM and the other 6 GB I don't plan on playing above full HD , and the extra 2GB would cost me an extra 100$ Also the 4GB version is on offer now , dropped from 390$ to 330$ . the 6GB is 440$. Please don't compare to your local markets it's more expensive here in Lebanon, and there's no way to buy online w/o paying an extra 500$ for shipping lol (we don't even have paypal here) So is the extra 2 GB worth it ?
dronez4 Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 if you're using it for gaming u might wanna check your internet first buddy however 6gb isnt too bad for 440$ the extra 2gb for 100 might push it that little bit more so i would personally do it but thats my opinion
Strike Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 I know that VRAM is for higher resolutions, if you stay at 1920x1080 then i guess stick with 4gb. ( some people recommend for higher resolutions: Gigabyte GV-R939G1 GAMING-8GD) Recently installed the 'Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5' funny enough the price is the same as the 8GB
vlatkozelka Posted January 1, 2016 Author Posted January 1, 2016 Well it turns out that the 6GB is the 980 not the 970 and that 970 only comes with 4GB Which makes me more decisive since I'm not going to pay an extra 100$ just cuz the other one is Asus not MSI . All of my PC is an MSI build and it runs perfect . Thanks for the help guys
DJEYEK Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 The GTX 970 is actually using 3,2 GB of its Vram, nvidia lied there to the customers which ended up in a big shitst0rm. If you have the Chance, either get a customied 960 or a 980, 970 is a nogo as of today.

My friend has it and it's doing very well for him . I just posted this thinking there was a 6GB version but there wasn't. I'm not planning on playing above 1080P res , and I never use high AA in my games , not because it drops FPS , but it just doesn't look right. I only use the light FXAA
Blacky Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 yea man get a 960 I don't think you need a high end card. Because you are only allowed to play renegade! 960 was just released last January and uses the new nvidia Maxwell architecture but only has a 128 bit bus. I got the 4gb edition when they first came out. 4gb is more then enough I don't think I use more then 2 on most games. The 960 I can display 4 monitors at 4k resolution. I did a lot of research before I got mine. If you are willing to spend 400 just get a 980 tho. Maxwell in the middle ( 960 uses Maxwell gm206, even though it has only has 128 bit bus the raw processing power of the Maxwell makes up for it. ) http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960,4038.html $40 cheaper then when I bought it 6 months ago. That's sweet. I get 1200 fps in renegade lol. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125777 Parts in the US are super cheap I will buy one here then send it to you haha
Blacky Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Dj You can utilize all your memory if you tell it too. Thats just how its designed to manage memory and people don't get it.
