PTapioK Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Shorty|S2 is seeing SBHs far away with some kind of cheat: Video
jesselol Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 looks like he was searching for SBH's in a common spot

He also did that to other ppl like Forithow and Fabregas. I also asked him about a cheat and he didnt deny it...
Mikey Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 (edited) This proves nothing, I see him doing this a lot especially on this map he's always hunting sbh he's got me a few times doing the same thing. He hit you with volt and then shot away from you you can see he only noticed you after you were unstealthed by it. And who's to say he wasn't chasing you before you started recording? not credible whatsoever. Edited October 11, 2016 by Mikey
Forithow Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 (edited) Yeah, me and Fabregas4 were on the opposite side of the tiberium field where Shorty was and he did manage to shoot Fabre suddenly, without even walking to where we were, with the ramjet, I also did record with fraps too but it only recorded sound and not the gameplay, :/ Also he shot with the ramjet first, then used the volt auto rifle. Peshmerga Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Just like Mikey said, that doesnt proof anything. Sometimes I randomly hs sbhs on distance while searching for them. But at second look its suspect, that he was waiting for a short time then took out ram and shoot to your side, but like I said it doesnt proof anything.

True, it's hard to capture a video about that kind of cheater when whole GDI is searching for SBHs. But why he did that same many times for many ppl? First ramjet and then volt after 1-2 seconds. I tried to ask him that if he wants to sell his cheat but he told me that its free at youtube (lol) and it's not a program(??). I thought he was good player... Edited October 11, 2016 by PTapioK
Guest rackz Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 On snow maps you sometimes see some snow splashes, mostly when you walk near walls or sometimes if you jump as sbh. For non snow maps im not sure. The other trick (i dont know if it been fixed by TT) is simple, target a structure and aim around, if the targetbox instantly disappears then you have "invisible" target something. Its pretty much the same with a MRLS. if you shoot randomly around and hit the "bullseye offset" off a stank (wich is the center of the vehicle-turret) your rockets will home the stank without a targetbox...

I guess he meant this: and thats how it look like in your video. He saw the targetbox dissapeared, then tried to hit you with ramjet, after the shot missed, he took the volt to get safe you dont move away

And why he didn't give link to that video even if I asked him (or perhaps I was too busy uploading the video)... Edited October 11, 2016 by PTapioK

Guest rackz Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Hah oldskool players know how to Renegade :P i know even more bugs and tricks :P but that would be against rules. Do anyone remember the secret lama or whatever it is in the campaign? (in mission M08)
Manuel857 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 That video doesn't look like he cheated. Anyone can just shoot around to look for sbh. I've done that many times myself.
mdogg1108 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 The reason why this video is sketchy is because he pulls out the ramjet. Using a volt, especially in an area like that, is completely normal. Him pulling out the ramjet and shooting right next to you doesn't make any sense to me, however it doesn't prove anything for certain. In a situation like that, especially with Fabregas well aware of the situation, he should have taken a screenshot. That screenshot would be able to show if he was cheating or not (hopefully). Since Fabregas was on Nod and was able to see SBH's, he could have also watched the player and followed him around using Fraps. If he was able to follow him around, we could have seen the entirely of his searching. I'll keep a mental note just to watch him. It would be nice if the player was able to comment on the situation here.
YesNoMayb Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Looks like he used the reticle glitch as shown in the stonekirby video. Marisa always does the same thing on islands.
Goztow Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 That is what it seems like. Am I the only one who's annoyed by people abusing this glitch? I've known about this glitch for a bit now but I never use it because it seems like a cheat to me.
Forithow Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 (edited) Hmm, quite understandable that shorty could possibly be doing that technique to find sbhs, it's just a little weird on PT's video, he missed with the ramjet and PT didn't move when he was "supposedly" looking (might be lag) and the fact that there weren't any units behind PT just the wall, but oh well, can only go so far to just explain what we saw, don't know about shorty's side of the story Edited October 12, 2016 by Forithow
Fabregas4 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Personally I dont buy it. Me and fori were standing completley still 8-10 mammy lengths away (meters dont feel right in ren haha) and all of a sudden ramjet shots are fired in our direction. Based on the youtube video he shouldve HSed us directly if the target showed our position. At other times he would be looking and walk right past us, as if it was something turned on or off. AAlso what was suspect to me is that when those ramjet shots are fired, any which way I run, he constanlty moves in the same direction regardless of how many times I change direction. Unfortunately I recorded nothing and foris video didnt work out :/ I wont believe this "glitch" until i test it out myself and see whats possible, or not, while using it.
shaitan Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Look at 0:15 - 0:18, he's highlighting that harvester and then scanning.
mdogg1108 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Can someone explain how this glitch works? Why is it that I've been playing Renegade over 12 years now and have never scanned a harvester and got an SBH outline before?
masscarriers Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Normally when you scan something (can be a harv, some teammates, anything really) the box around that target stays for a few seconds even if you wander your mouse around (unless you scan something else before). The glitch is that when you sweep your mouse over an sbh after scanning something, the box around the previous person will disappear as soon as you "target" the sbh. The game cannot make a new box appear for the sbh because it's invisible but still removes the old one. 1

Ah, so what you're saying is that the game does not create a new box for the SBH, it simply makes your box dissapear a lot quicker than it normally would?

It makes the hitbox disappear at the exact moment your reticle aims at an invisible unit. This works for any stealthed unit, so also vehicles. Some people use this trick to find SBHs (or check for stanks, hehehehe) like Shorty did here. Shaitan showed some solid proof with his post. This trick does not work using structure hitboxes, as those disappear instantly after losing your focus on them. 1
DickClark Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 basically mdogg, once your target box leaves earlier than it was supposed to, that tells you that theres evil afoot in the spot it dissapeared in :p thats why shorty then sprays his volt around where he thinks PT is
Shorty Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I thought this glitch was pretty much common knowledge these days. And how people can still be suspicious of cheats after seeing that youtube-video is a mystery to me. 1
