I'm not sure I understand what you mean. What I meant was the following: I had no issue with the PREVIOUS version of this, when everything was in the normal chat, BECAUSE it was nicely color coded. (Veteran Points had this teal/cyan color). In my humble opinion, it was very useful because this way I could always see right away during gameplay, what just happened (the amount of veteran points indicating, how much I contributed to, say, a tank kill) But since now it's all up there in the console region, this has changed. Firstly, it is distracting as it seems like it's out of bounds (chat itself never had this effect) and secondly, due to the small size it is hard to read. I need more than just a quick glance, unlike before, and sometimes I don't even care to look up anymore. It is now an additional region of the screen, that needs attention, besides your regular gameplay region, and the chat. And due to the size, the color itself is less useful now, as it's not so easily visible anymore (at least for me).

Now, I understand it is a new feature and might need some adjusting. I agree. But my first impression is pretty clear and honestly, since I liked the previous version so much I don't think my opinion will change much but we will see.

And I also understand that some people (maybe even the majority, I don't know at all) had a problem with the previous chat version, since it was so overloaded. I can fully understand that and don't claim to know any better than you, how to solve this :) Once again, I am very grateful to all mods and all administrators and developers for doing these efforts to increase the gameplay experience and keeping Renegade alive. I'm really sorry if my previous posts seemed ungrateful and ignorant. That was not my intention, I just wanted to give my opinion on this :)

Hi Fardin, thank for expressing your opinion in such a respectful way. It is truely refreshing. Cluttered chat has been a pain in the proverbial for a long time. Truth is I think very few people actually look at the rc points info. Hence having it in a little corner is good for many.

just have a toggle like !removechat and it just clears the entire box and shows no messages at all. solves muting ILL for some people AND the useless server messages. two birds, one stone. thank me later.

my opinion:

personally i will admit i am getting used to it, my eyes don't go to it as often and if it stayed i would be able to survive without raging.

however, also my opinion, i mean lets be real does anyone actually care about the veteran points and stuff? i do care that i get health for free yes and getting promoted does make the game better for you yes i agree to these. but i have 0 idea how many points i need and im too busy playing to count them and i low key doubt more than 5% of players actually look at it at most

if its gone i wouldnt mind

In fact you can press Insert (or maybe Delete) it will show you How much rank points you have and how much you need to the next rank. So indeed that's a bit useless

By the way - this function currently works on half. So, veteran points are showing in the left corner, but if you press Delete key (not Insert) it will show current / needed for next rank points, and they will be in main chat, not in left corner. For the experiment purposes, we can prob move this to left corner as well.

IMO - this system with veteran points works well. For me it doesn't distract me and clears the main chat significantly.

I actually like to see when and how many vet points I get. It's useful when you hit a target and someone else kills/destroys it, I like to know how much I contributed to the kill.

I'm thankful for server management trying out various tricks to clean up the chat feed. I really think it would help so much to teamplay, since Renegade heavily relies on text-based communication.

I made a topic (https://rencorner.co/topic/17001-communication-improvements/) about tidying up the chat feed but it got locked...
As part of the topic, I took screenshots each time I was on the server playing, and I cropped the screenshots to show examples of stuff found in the chat feed that, I believe, are redundant.

Check out the screenshots in that thread, as others have said in this topic it's crazy how much stuff goes on in the feed. No wonder people have keybinds for "REQUESTING MORE MEDS FOR A MED RUSH" for example, because the only way to ensure everyone sees team plans is to say things multiple times or write in caps.

Ultimately, I think nearly everything we see in the feed should be removed so that only chat, team chat, pm chat and radio chat remains.
Remove everything else or make it off by default. Nobody can really complain that people who toggle the other things back on have an advantage, I would argue that it's communication that gives people advantage, being able to actually notice what people are saying.

On the subject of vet points, I personally find that information redundant. Everyone knows that if you want points, you simply play the game. If you really want to see each fractional vet point you get for each action you do in the game... make it toggleable.

In conclusion: I think the only change needed to the Veteran points announcement is to move there your current progress as well (this can be looked by pressing Delete key ingame), because it still shows in main chat, and not in the left top corner.

Nope its hard to read and that vet status info is too long. I will leave it for vet points only.
